Lots of Star Wars: Episode 8 spoilers have fans wondering what will transpire in the sequel to the massively successful The Force Awakens .
The problem with spoilers, for this or any other blockbuster, is what to believe. Simply put, it’s impossible to know fact from fiction, but there is no doubt that some interesting tidbits were revealed this past week.
The Force Awakens director, J.J. Abrams, has always been known for keeping his movies under tight guard, and Star Wars was no exception. Though there were lots and lots of rumors throughout filming, not many things got out, and the actors couldn’t even take copies of the script home with them in order to protect the film.
Hence, fans were mostly surprised when the movie finally landed in theaters last December. Without Abrams at the helm, we can expect a level of secrecy will surround Star Wars: Episode 8; spoilers, however, come with the territory.
Let’s review what little is known so far and as always with spoilers or rumors, and take this with a big grain of salt. Please be warned that Star Wars: Episode 8 spoilers are included in the following paragraphs, but why would you be reading?
The first bit of information that was leaked this past week was that there is a working title for the sequel. The information allegedly came from a grainy video, taken on a phone, from someone working on this year’s Star Wars Celebration event, scheduled for July 15 to 17 in London.

Remember when The Force Awakens was announced as the title for the latest episode? Many fans were not happy with it, but in the end, it worked out perfectly. So what is the rumored title for Star Wars: Episode 8 ? Here it goes: The Fall of the Resistance .
Other titles, including The Jedi Step and Shadow of the Sith have also been talked about, but the new one appears to fit with the narrative after the events from The Force Awakens . This title implies trouble for The Resistance and the opposite The First Order.
So that’s spoiler number one. As far as the characters reprising their roles from Star Wars: Episode VII , the rumors, according to The Sun , are that Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), and Daisy Ridley (Rey) have been spotted filming in Ireland, where it is believed Luke’s planet of exile, Ahch-To, is located. The planet has been described as a “Jedi Temple” where Kylo Ren inevitably ends up at some point during the film.

According to a source at Billbaoya , Kylo and Rey have a discussion that Luke doesn’t approve of and the old Jedi will show an ability that we haven’t seen him display before.
“‘A few weeks ago they blew up, specifically, blew apart, an Ahch-To hut.’ According to my source, Kylo and Rey have a conversation that Luke does not like. While the Sith have the ability to shoot chain lightning at their targets, Luke will exhibit the ability to combust materials and make them explode.”
Remember that last scene in The Force Awakens when Rey finally finds Luke. It would make sense that she stays there to see if she can get some answers and in the process reveal what her story really is. She is also heartbroken over the unexpected death of Han Solo (Harrison Ford), a scene that shocked fans and is probably also interested in finding out why his own son took his life.
It is believed that Luke trained the killer, Kylo Ren, and now those loyal to The Resistance will want to avenge his death. Luke trained Kylo Ren before he turned to the Dark Side and will most likely face the wrath of Han’s friends.
But Luke may have help if another Star Wars: Episode 8 spoiler is to be believed. There are rumors that Frank Oz, who voiced Master Yoda, has been brought back to reprise the original character, who was Luke’s mentor in the original trilogy.
Another Star Wars: Episode 8 spoiler is that there is a Cantina scene involving Luke, described as the Jedi being spotted in a casino. This rumor comes the reliable The Making of Star Wars site.
Aside from the actors already mentioned, Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa), John Boyega (Finn), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), and Gwendoline Christie (Captain Phasma) will return to reprise their roles. We still need to find out about Rey and Finn’s back stories and who their parents really are.
Fans will have to wait and see if all these rumors pan out, but hopefully, some more information with be coming in July. The new Star Wars installment is scheduled to open in theaters on December 15, 2017.
