Robert Plant joined Jack White onstage earlier this weekend in South America, stepping in to recreate his classic vocals on Led Zeppelin’s “The Lemon Song,” a piece that has recently found its way into White’s setlist.
Jack White and his band were performing at Lollapalooza Argentina, according to Ultimate Classic Rock , on Saturday, March 21 when Plant stepped onstage to join them. White has recently been performing “The Lemon Song” as part of his concerts, while Plant has previously stated that he would like to work with the guitarist.

In a video filmed at the concert, White begins the track armed with a bigsby-equipped telecaster before waving Plant onto the stage to massive applause. The duo perform the song, a standout fan favorite from Led Zeppelin II , with wild abandon, before White briefly duets with Plant near the song’s conclusion. The track has its roots in delta blues, much like Howlin’ Wolf’s Killing Floor” and Robert Johnson’s “Traveling Riverside Blues,” which represent common musical DNA for the artists, despite their generational gap.

As Jambase reports, Robert Plant has previously expressed a desire to work with White. In a Facebook chat with fans conducted on September 9, the singer was forthright in showing his appreciation for White’s previous work, even suggesting that they collaborate on a version of “Love Me” by the Phantom.
“I love Jack White’s buccaneer spirit, and the way he dodges through the musical horizons. I’d be happy to make a single with him,” Plant said.

Plant’s appearance is hardly White’s first brush with the members of Led Zeppelin. In 2009, both White and guitarist Jimmy Page appeared in It Might Get Loud , alongside U2’s the Edge. Directed by Davis Guggenheim, the documentary explored the electric guitar through the three musician’s experiences, each of whom represented a different generation.
Though fans have been clamoring for a Led Zeppelin reunion, Robert Plant has instead been touring with his own band, the Sensational Space Shifters. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Plant’s decision not to rejoin the legendary band has been cited by Page as the main obstacle to a reunion. After watching Robert Plant perform with Jack White, however, fans will no doubt be excitedly anticipating a possible further collaboration between the duo.
