Netflix has been teasing Marvel fans with snippets of Mike Colter doing his Luke Cage thing for quite some time and on Friday, another scene from the highly anticipated Marvel series was released. The countdown has started, and the next entry into the Marvel Comic Universe will make its debut, but not before a flurry of teasers are unleashed.
Coming Soon posted the new trailer, which finds Luke Cage powering through a boxing gym , throwing bad guys around like dirty laundry, and patiently waiting for the bewildered thugs to stop shooting at him, only voicing frustration at the thought of having to buy new clothes, which is understandable. He’s a big guy, he can’t just roll up to any retailer and buy his clothes and a wardrobe in his size must be expensive. As a willing participant in a science experiment gone wrong (aren’t most Marvel characters created that way?) all Mr. Indestructible wants is to stop looking over his shoulder and deal with the hand he’s been dealt. Instead, he is forced to embrace his role as hero-for-hire and handle the consequences of his past.

Luke Cage fans have patiently waited for 40 years to see the superhero onscreen, and in a few weeks, Luke Cage’s world will present itself and fans will get to see if Netflix can pull off another convincing Marvel character portrayal. Thus far, Netflix has not disappointed.
Mike Colter will be joined by Rosario Dawson, who’s character Claire Temple will be a Cage love interest and the thread connecting Marvel’s Luke Cage , Daredevil , and Jessica Jones together. Theo Rossi ( Sons of Anarchy ) portrays Cage’s enemy Shades aka Alvarez , Alfre Woodard ( Suicide Squad ) is villain Black Mariah, and Mahershala Ali ( House of Cards ) is confirmed as conflicted drug kingpin Cotton Mouth, reports Deadline .

Colter beat out Idris Elba, Michael Jai White (Spawn), Terry Crews, and Omari Hardwick (Ghost from Power ) for the Luke Cage role, and the 40-year old Columbia, South Carolina native has proven to be every bit the menacing, massive, tower of masculinity one comes to expect from a man with impenetrable skin while maintaining a sense of humor.

Executive producer and showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker wrote the first two Luke Cage episodes and is aiming for a ‘ 90s hip-hop vibe, but with Marvel action and dramatic storytelling that deals with current events, reports Entertainment Weekly .
“We have a lot of different musical appearances, but at the same time, we’ve got the Marvel action. We’ve got drama. I would like this to be, I mean, I know this is heavy but, The Wire of Marvel television, because we really deal with a lot of different issues.”
Marvel’s Luke Cage will debut in its entirety September 30 on Netflix.
