We have begged and cried for the Destiny sequel to come to the PC. Now, new information has surfaced that might finally prove a PC port is in the works.
Destiny was a tough success to beat, which was reported by Game Rant to have shipped enough copies of the game to record at least $500 million in sales on its first day. Released in 2014, Destiny continues its successful streak as more and more players bank hours and dollars into the game.
Destiny has indeed propelled Bungie into new heights after the massive success of Halo. A recurring thought about Destiny , as Bungie’s first conquest after Halo, was, ‘Why did it never make it to the PC?” Several titles from the Halo franchise were published for a multitude of platforms, including the Windows PC, but why opt out for Destiny?

Well, the PC-playing community has been one of the most stable, income-generating markets in the industry, so it’s confusing why Destiny decided not to release on the platform. It did release on the older-gen Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but it looks like Bungie will be playing all their cards for the upcoming Destiny sequel as it has been rumored for months now that Destiny 2 is finally being developed for PC.
GamenGuide reported that Destiny 2 is expected to come out in 2017, and since Destiny: Rise of Iron has finally let go of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, it looks like Destiny 2 will only be shipping to the newer generation Xbox One and PlayStation 4. How about PC, then?
In September, Kotaku first cited extremely trusted sources to reveal that Destiny 2 is getting developed for PC. According to a NeoGAF user named benny_a, Destiny 2 publisher Activision informed its employees in an internal presentation that the much-anticipated Destiny sequel will also ship on the PC.
Apparently, the Activision-owned studios Vicarious Visions and High Moon Studios are working on the Destiny 2 project, and these two studios will be clocking in hours to help develop the PC port.

Today, new information pointing to proof that Bungie is shaping Destiny 2 for the Windows PC platform has surfaced, Gaming Bolt reports. This information has been brought up by Twitter user Jay Bryce who has posted a snapshot of a Bungie careers page.

The snapshot features a call out from Bungie, looking for a world design tester that has experience testing Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The full job listing at Bungie Careers is a revealing read.
“Do you obsessively think about games, even when not playing them? Do you strategize about the best way to beat a challenging level and relish flawless execution of that strategy? If the answer is a resounding “YES!”, then I believe we have a job for you at Bungie.”
“Testers at Bungie are grouped into teams, responsible for ensuring that an area of the game is ready to ship. The role of this particular Tester will be to evaluate the end-to-end experience of our game, looking at how various systems work together to provide a cohesive and fun experience. This role will be heavy on gameplay and as such, we definitely prefer experienced, skillful gamers. A background in finding exploits would also be useful!”
Teams: Build Verification Tests, PvE, PvP, Investment, Sandbox
Required Skills
- Excellent communicator both written and verbal
- Skilled FPS gamer
- Ability to understand game systems and use that knowledge to create exploits
- Be a born problem solver
- Must be willing to execute complicated regression scenarios using multiple platforms (multi-tasking)
- Must be adaptable and willing to handle daily randomization
- Previous experience working on a shipped console title
- Experience testing multiple platforms (Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, PC)
- Willingness to work over 40 hours per week when necessary to ensure the quality of the project
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Scripting or coding experience (C# preferred)
The people who have read this are arguing that with Bungie working on no other project that Destiny, it’s only logical to assume that needing a tester for the PC platform means that either Destiny is getting ported to the PC or Destiny 2 will be shipping to Xbox One, PS4, and PC. If gamers are really lucky, maybe it will be both!
Kotaku news editor Jason Schreier, who is also a trusted voice on all things gaming, stands by his statement that Destiny 2 is definitely coming to PC.
@Gothalion It’s not on 360/PS3 so that job listing doesn’t say much. But I can confirm it’ll be on PC!
