Many young women likely are in agreement that marrying a prince would be a dream. However, the former long-term girlfriend to Prince Harry recently shared that it was quite the opposite most of the time.

Chelsy Davy and Prince Harry were an item for seven years, and during this time, which many would view as a fairytale romance, Davy admitted that dating a royal was “scary” and “uncomfortable” due to constant media intrusion and judgment passed on her while on the arm of Prince Harry. Chelsy recently spoke with The Times about the experience she had while dating Harry.

“It was so full-on – so crazy and scary and uncomfortable. I found it very difficult when it was bad. I couldn’t cope… I was trying to be a normal kid, and it was horrible.”

The two began dating in 2004 and called off their relationship in 2011 when Davy came to terms that it was “not the life for [her].” Now 30, the former solicitor is a jewelry designer and enjoying a quieter life. She has just launched her jewelry brand named Aya in London.

Since Chelsy and Harry parted ways, the young royal has remained single, but rumors of romances and flings still surface on a regular basis. One apparent connection that made headlines was with actress Cressida Bonas and most recently, the Prince was tied to pop star Ellie Goulding.

Considering how often Prince Harry has been questioned about his single status, it’s no wonder he has stated that he now has a “paranoia” when interacting with women. The media and tabloids come out with stories that he is involved with someone even if he is just having a casual conversation with a woman.

Yahoo News relays the words of the 30-year-old royal on the subject of future female companions.

“If or when I do find a girlfriend, I will do my utmost… to ensure that me and her can get to the point where we’re actually comfortable with each other before the massive invasion that is inevitably going to happen into her privacy. “The other concern is that even if I talk to a girl, that person is then suddenly my wife, and people go knocking on her door.”

Until Prince Harry finds a new love, he keeps busy by doing his part to help out and advocate for causes he believes in. The former military officer and sports enthusiast is always about paying tribute to those who have served and gives special attention to reminding people how sports and an active life can lead to success in other areas. Most recently, Prince Harry threw a charity event at Kensington Palace which was to benefit children in Lesotho. Time reported on the event where attendees caught sight of Harry rocking out to Coldplay.

“Royal ginger and all-around very likable philanthropist Prince Harry threw a benefit concert on Tuesday night at Kensington Palace for his charity, Sentebale, which aids children in Lesotho. To aid in his admirable efforts, Harry enlisted a choir from Lesotho and Beyoncé’s Super Bowl backing band, Coldplay, both of whom provided many danceable tunes for the night.”

The scene of Harry bouncing around the stage to the beat while flailing his arms is evidence enough that royals are human too, and when the music gets pumping, they can bust a move as well as anyone else. Watch the Prince show off his moves. Although Prince Harry earned himself a bit of a bad reputation back in his late teens and early 20’s, the eligible royal has since redeemed himself and is constantly commended for all of his efforts to do his part to support causes and perform his royal duties. Harry is the lighthearted younger brother to the future King, Prince William, and he plays his role well.
