Brad Pitt is finally ready to move on ! The Allied star reportedly agreed to sell his luxurious wine estate in France. Why did Pitt finally agree to let go of his “house of broken dreams”?
An insider told Radar Online that Pitt is putting Chateau Miraval on the market after purchasing it in 2008. The couple spent a lot of time at the estate over the years, and Pitt allegedly wanted to keep it all cost.
“Angelina’s wanted to sell Miraval for years, but Brad convinced her to keep it so they could get married there.”
Because of the divorce, Jolie and Pitt have to split some of the equity they’ve built up in properties around the world. Their lavish estate in France is apparently one of their most lucrative properties, though being short on cash is not one of Pitt’s motivations to sell.
“Now they’ve got to liquidate some of their properties because most of their equity is tied up in real estate and the biggest one of thermal is Miraval,” the insider shared. “With divorce negotiations underway, Brad’s shocked everyone and agreed to selling France, but everyone knows it’s not because they need cash, it’s because he can’t bear to go there every again.”
The insider added, “He plans on spending more time in California now, but there’s no doubt he’s devastated about the decision. It’s become a house of broken dreams for Brad.”
The agreement to sell follows Jolie’s decision to get any tattoo’s related to Pitt removed. It also comes in the wake of Pitt’s 53rd birthday. According to Us Magazine , Jolie celebrated her estranged husband’s birthday by taking Shiloh camera shopping in Los Angeles.
“Shiloh is very interested in photography, and Angelina asked to look at some of the vintage cameras,” a source explained. “Angelina inspected the cameras from many different angles and was asking questions. Shiloh was listening intently and paying close attention.”
It isn’t known how Pitt celebrated his birthday. The couple is currently locked in an intense custody battle that might prevent the actor from seeing his kids over Christmas. Pitt and Jolie shared six children during their time together – Maddox (15), Pax (13), Zahara (11), Shiloh (10), and twins Knox and Vivienne (8).
“Brad hopes to see the kids for Christmas at some point,” a source noted. “But when hasn’t been determined.”
Brad Pitt’s fight for joint custody was hampered by allegations of child abuse. The World War Z star was investigated by the L.A. County Department of Child and Family Services and the FBI following reports of an incident with Maddox on board a private plane. He has since been cleared of all the claims but still has to visit the kids with a therapist.
It is difficult to determine when their marriage fell apart. According to E! News , the last time Jolie and Pitt stepped out on the red carpet together was back in November 2015 during their By the Sea premiere. By all outside appearances, the pair looked as happy as ever.
They kept out of the limelight for a good portion of 2016. Jolie was focused on her career in the U.N. as a Goodwill ambassador while Pitt was busy working on several movie projects. After Jolie filed for divorce in September, she hasn’t made any celebrity appearances.
Pitt has been relatively quiet this year as well. He did, however, walk the red carpet with Marion Cotillard last month for the premiere of their movie, Allied . He also made an appearance at the 2016 Golden Globes; an event Jolie decided to skip.
