The 2016 Billboard Awards are in full swing and one of the most hotly-anticipated acts has just blown the roof off the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas. Fifth Harmony, probably the most popular girl group around right now, performed their hit single “Work From Home,” and people just can’t get over it the incredible performance.
Alongside collaborator Ty Dolla $ign, the five girls — Camila Cabello, Lauren Jauregui, Ally Brook, Dinah-Jane Hansen, and Normani Hamilton — worked the stage after rising through the floor wreathed in smoke. The Billboard awards audience were having a blast dancing and singing along. The Hollywood Reporter wrote that Fifth Harmony “ stunned on stage in matching iridescent bodysuits as they performed their radio hit with the rapper.”
“Work From Home” debuted at number 12 on the Billboard charts on its release in March, and peaked at number five. It is the highest-charting single by a female group since The Pussycat Dolls in 2008.
The girls were a hit on the Billboard awards red carpet as well as the stage. Dressed to match in five gorgeous black dresses, the group were “ classic and chic ,” writes Teen Vogue.
“Though they all wore the same black hue, they made sure to switch things up with their outfit choices. The group wore everything from corseted dresses to plunging-back numbers.”
So not only can the girls sing, but they look spectacular as well! The girls are a shoo-in on the best dressed lists. Some of the other Billboard awards red — or pink — carpet looks have caused some raised eyebrows, but Fifth Harmony always do keep it classy, although they are usually a lot more colorful than tonight.
The 2016 Billboard awards is packed with awesome performers. In addition to Fifth Harmony, Celine Dion, Shawn Mendes, and Justin Bieber are just a few of the scheduled performers. Britney Spears performed an incredible compilation of her best-loved hits, and Madonna performed a controversial tribute to the late, great Prince.

Fifth Harmony are used to giving great live performances; they came a commendable third on the 2012 season of The X Factor USA, not bad for a group that had only been formed on the show a few weeks before. The group’s second album, named 7/27 after the date on which they were formed, is due for release on May 27. “Work From Home” is the lead single from the album.
Hot on the heels of their Billboard awards success, the quintet will tour in support of their new album this summer. A North American tour was announced last week. Rolling Stone writes that the five “ will kick off their trek across the U.S. on July 27 in New Hampshire and stay on the road through September 17 when they wrap in Las Vegas, Nevada.”
In addition to Ty Dolla $ign, the new album features collaborations with Fetty Wap and Missy Elliott, but it is not yet clear if any of the three will guest on the tour. The girls have said that they are aiming for a more soulful, R&B sound with 7/27 . The group is heavily involved in the writing of the album and the R&B style is well-suited to the mixture of their voices.

The 2016 Billboard awards performance of “Work From Home” is the show debut for the girls, and it is probably a good bet that they will be asked back again. Singing on the same lineup as seasoned performers like Britney and Justin Bieber is quite something for a relatively inexperienced group.
For fans of Fifth Harmony, the Billboard awards gave you just about everything — a gorgeous red-carpet look and a stunning live performance. For the five girls and their fans, 2016 is looking to be a pretty incredible year.
