Avengers 3 producers are changing the tune they earlier sung to Marvel movie fans hungry to know what direction these movies are taking. The Russo brothers confirmed that they will be taking charge of Avengers: Infinity War and that it will only be one movie. The next movie is still a mystery, so much so that its unofficial current title is simply Untitled Avengers .

Since there won’t be two parts to Avengers 3 , the Russo brothers might have a totally different story situation by the time of Untitled Avengers in 2019. It’s likely Avengers movie No. 4 will have a very different cast. The comic book versions of the heroes are all different these days. Marvel has done its best to put female and minority characters in the places formally held by a less diverse bunch. Comic book fans have been wondering if the movies might decide to one day go in the same direction.

Not only are movie titles constantly changing, the scriptwriters have also discussed how much change and revision the scripts of Avengers 3 and 4 are going through on a daily basis. They have to work on both scripts simultaneously while taking direction from bosses about what now needs to be updated, left out, or altered. It’s a huge task because the 2019 Avengers sequel will be the last Marvel Phase 3 movie and needs to wrap up and tie together everything that these movies have been building towards. What that is may depend on what other characters Marvel can wrestle out of the hands of other owners, like they pulled off wonderfully with Spider-Man. There has been a rumor the Fantastic Four may enter the picture, but everyone knows that the real fun will start when Marvel can get the rights to X-Men back, and create a movie based on the Avengers vs. X-Men comic books.

There are numerous Marvel movies coming first, with some major introductions to new, important characters, including Captain Marvel and Doctor Strange. As Business Insider shows, besides Avengers: Infinity War , there are seven Marvel movies that the scriptwriters need to take into account as they write Untitled Avengers .
Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely told Yahoo! Movies how hectic the Avengers story creation process can get.
“We’re many drafts in. We’re on the third draft of movie one and the second draft of movie two. [We’re writing them in tandem] as much as we can. On any given day, you’re only working on one but that doesn’t mean that next week, you aren’t working on the other one. And certainly, notes are coming in and all sorts of production stuff is coming in, like for instance, ‘that thing over there is now a window not a door so adjust that.’ Or, ‘we’re not going to this town now, we’re going to this town.’ That kind of stuff happens constantly and will continue to happen for the next few months.”
Besides the Avengers , there is still rumors swirling about a possible Iron Man 4 . There is also supposedly a Spider-Man series of movies coming after Spider-Man: Homecoming , and they will play out like Harry Potter. It’s a lot for the writers to keep track of. In comic books, continuity is often not adhered to. It is often broken and then revised to make sense at a later time. Things can get very confusing in the comic books with multiple versions of a character existing simultaneously, and with multiple universes, of which the Marvel Cinematic Universe is one.

Marvel producer Kevin Feige has to make sure the movies have a broader appeal and are simple enough to not confuse anyone who chooses to follow developments. He has so far done a good job in keeping the movie universe aligned with itself, setting an example that might benefit the comic book arm of Marvel, should they ever try to make themselves as streamlined.
Marvel released a non-stop flow of news for its movie and television ventures at the recent Comic-Con in San Diego, more than anyone could have imagined. They released trailer after trailer, showcased early footage, revealed major new castings, and in general left everybody anticipating seeing incarnations of their favorite superhero characters on both the big and small screens.
Though it’s still too early for any Avengers 3 footage, at least the naming situation is clearer.
