A toddler who got accidentally locked in a scorching car was dramatically rescued by 5-year-old, Zavi Ahmed, who just so happens to have been dressed as Batman that day.
“Zavi loves to dress up, and that morning he had to be Batman. And he said his little brother Nadeem can be in his ‘super baby clothes,’” his mom, Emma Ahmed, told Yahoo Parenting .
The incident occurred last Tuesday in East Sussex, England, where 1-year-old Iris Adamski somehow got locked inside her grandparents’ Volkswagen Beetle while they were loading groceries into it.
They alerted the authorities for assistance, but after smashing in the back window, the officers realized that they were too big to reach in and get the keys or open the door.
And that’s when Batkid came in.
Ahmed saw what was taking place in the grocery store parking lot and went over with his mother to offer his help in rescuing baby Iris.
“It really was a case of Batman to the rescue,” said the toddler’s grandfather, John Penny.
On that fateful morning, Zavi had begged his mother to wear his favorite superhero costume, which coincidentally came in quite handy when he was crawling through the window to save the baby.
“That morning he decided he wanted to be dressed as Batman, I don’t know why,” said Emma.
According to the Mirror , the miniature Batman was with his mother and 2-year-old brother, who was dressed as Superman, when he volunteered to retrieve the keys through the tiny opening .
“My friend said he could go to [the supermarket] Tesco and be a superhero and that’s just what happened,” said Emma.
“We couldn’t believe it.”
“Of all the days for him to dress up and that happens.”
According Iris’ grandparents, the toddler was fast asleep in the back seat of the car when the doors mysteriously locked.
A fateful encounter perhaps?
