Mayim Bialik Shows Support For ‘Supergirl’ With Special Work Outfit
Actress Mayim Bialik showed her support for the new CBS hit series, Supergirl at work Tuesday with an impressive wardrobe choice.
The Big Bang Theory actress wore a brand new Supergirl shirt to work, which apparently came with an added feature that she did not initially expect – a cape.
Bialik posted a picture of herself wearing the Supergirl shirt (and cape) on her official Facebook page Tuesday along with a brief explanation of how it all happened.
“The only shirt I brought to work today was the new WB Supergirl shirt and it was in a package and I didn’t realize it has a cape. I’m wearing this at work. Company girl.”
This is not the first time that Mayim Bialik has shown her support for a Kryptonian superhero.
In June 2013, Mayim participated in a promotional campaign for the Zack Snyder-directed film, Man of Steel. The campaign, which was sponsored by Gillette, consisted of several celebrity “experts” weighing in on the topic of how Superman shaved his face in the film.

As the only female featured on the panel, Mayim apparently took a lot of creative liberties with her Superman shaving theory.
However, in an interview with Glen Tickle from The Mary Sue, Bialik revealed that her background in neuroscience played a key role in the development of her theory.
“I think also because I’m the bona fide neuroscientist, we felt like we had a little creative room as well to be sort of playful about it… The way that I came up with this theory is that one of the classes for I TA’d three times for was ‘The Anatomy and Physiology of Sense Organs,’ and one of the sensory systems that we did was touch receptors and skin. So, I actually used my neuroscience training in understanding of the hair follicle to come up with my theory.”
Bialik further explained the origin of her “Enzymatic Follicle Denaturation Theory” in an interview with ComicBook the same month.
She approached the theory “assuming enough similarities between Kryptonian genetics and human genetics to be able to make a hypothesis about the actual structure of the hair follicle.”
The former Blossom star essentially concluded that Superman would need to remove his facial hairs by using a special type of lotion instead of actually shaving with a blade.
In her interview with The Mary Sue, Bialik expressed that Superman using a lotion for his facial hair issue would make “it easier for that hair follicle to fall out with gentle exfoliation.”
Mayim Bialik is a self-proclaimed geek and longtime fan of comic books. She opened up to ComicBook about spending a lot of her childhood on the floor of comic book stores throughout her teenage and college years.
Her emotions apparently got the best of her when she saw an official trailer for Man of Steel. In numerous interviews, she openly admitted that the trailer moved her to tears.
“When I hear other actors on our show asked, ‘Are you a geek?’ and it’s like, ‘Well, I’m a theater geek,’ well that’s very different from crying when you see the Man of Steel trailer – which is something that happened to me. True story… Absolutely. No, it was intense. I think honestly, not to be all weird and elitist about it, there’s two kinds of people: There’s people who see that trailer and cry and there’s everyone else [laughs].”
Mayim Bialik was more than likely one of the 12.9 million people, according to The Hollywood Reporter, that watched Monday night’s series premiere of Supergirl on CBS. Perhaps watching the Kryptonian heroine in action on the small screen caused her to shed a tear as well.
