President Donald Trump’s long association with the industry he helped grow should have earned him more than a handful of supporters from the WWE. While Trump supporters are a minority in the WWE, some wrestlers such as superstar Big Cass openly supports the POTUS to the point that he is reportedly getting some heat in the locker rooms due to his political views.
According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter , Big Cass is getting some flak in the WWE locker rooms because of his love for President Donald Trump. While Trump himself has been a supporter of the WWE and has even appointed Linda McMahon to his cabinet, WWE athletes who support the president are still too few considering Trump’s influence in the business. Trump is a long time family friend of the McMahon family and the McMahon’s have donated money to Trump’s campaign. That being said, with McMahon’s connection to Donald Trump, any wrestler in the WWE openly supporting the Trump wouldn’t have his or her career in danger because of their political views.
Donald Trump is seemingly unpopular to the majority of the athletes playing professionally in the four major sports organizations in the United States. Just recently, the Golden States Warriors skipped the traditional courtesy call to the White House usually undertaken by the NBA champions.
That being said, many observers believe that Trump, a WWE Hall-of-Fame inductee himself, should have had more support from WWE family besides the McMahon’s and Big Cass. The Trump Plaza in Atlantic City hosted the WrestleMania 4 and WrestleMania 5 and the president himself even had a hand in pushing for the co-main event of WrestleMania 23 , lining up Bobby Lashley against Vince McMahon’s Umaga in the Battle of Billionaires.
Meanwhile, political views aside, the WWE management has high hopes for Big Cass. Big Cass overwhelmed erstwhile tag team partner Enzo Amore in their match at the tremendously successful Great Balls of Fire 2017 pay-per-view event. Big Cass bragged about his win over Enzo on RAW the following day and then called out Big Show. Some fans now speculate that Big Cass’ brief rivalry with Enzo is now over and done with, and the focus now would shift to Big Cass’ feud with the Big Show. Bleacher Reports posits that Big Cass and Big Show would slug it out on SummerSlam in August .
