When WWE trademarks something new, a lot of speculation begins because it’s not always known what it could be for. Sometimes, the trademark is something obvious and everyone can figure it out; but, their latest trademark is causing a lot of rumors to fly. The most recent trademark by WWE is for the name “The Revival,” and it has sparked a lot of speculation as to whether it is for a brand new stable or a new tag team.
According to E Wrestling News , WWE has just recently applied for the trademark of “The Revival,” but there is nothing more known about it. WWE doesn’t typically give out any real information. At first, it’s hard to see what can even be gleaned from this, but many are trying.
Until the name is actually used on WWE television, it’s not confirmed at all what the trademark could be for. Reddit users seem to have figured out how “The Revival” will be used, though, and it appears as if it will be the official tag team name for Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder.
“I’m shocked nobody has suggested this yet. Jordan and Gable recently got officially named American Alpha, right? Maybe this is the name for Dash and Dawson? They’re the one’s who’ve been mentioning the tag team division revival for the last few weeks, I think they’ve been using that hashtag on Twitter too.”
The above theory comes from one user named “ Scap-Rallion ” on Reddit , and it actually makes a lot of sense when you look at a number of other things going on.
The current NXT Tag Team Champions have been steamrolling through any and every opponent that comes at them. They’ve also been promoting themselves quite publicly on Twitter, and casually using the name of The Revival.
We’ve defended our @WWENXT tag titles in more states & countries than any tag team in NXT history. Tonight we add #NXTDetroit #TheRevival

It wasn’t just a one time thing, either. Dash has been tweeting the hashtag and name continuously on Twitter.

The team was formerly known as The Mechanics in NXT and first started teaming together in 2014 when they were sparingly used. In mid-2015, they came back around and got a big win over Enzo Amore and Big Cass in their return to NXT television.
In the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, they made it to the semifinals and ended up being defeated by the team of NXT Champion Finn Balor and Samoa Joe. By late October, the name “The Mechanics” was dropped in favor of just calling them “Dash and Dawson.”
The team kept moving up the success ladder and ended up winning the NXT Tag Team Titles from The Vaudevillains back in late October. Since then, they’ve continued to defend their titles and retain them. It looks like WWE may be planning on honoring them with another tag team name in The Revival.
Some have passed along speculation that the name of “The Revival” could be for a brand new stable in WWE.
There are rumors flying around that there will be some version of the Bullet Club arriving in WWE after the arrival of AJ Styles from New Japan Pro Wrestling. Two other former members, Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows, are also set to make their WWE debut soon, too.
That’s not even mentioning NXT Champion Finn Balor was also in the Bullet Club; but, if anything, WWE may call that stable Balor Club . Well, that’s if it ever even happens.
Some trademarks filed by WWE are hard to decipher, but a little research and the thoughts of multiple wrestling fans may have figured it out. “The Revival” is just a trademark for now, but look for it to be officially placed on the NXT team of Dash and Dawson soon.
