As WWE attempts to find a way to fill in the blanks and voids that are currently plaguing their main event scene, rumors are flying around about those not even with the company. Yes, Brock Lesnar appears to be heading for more dates with a contract renegotiation, but what about those around the world? Speculation is running wild that both AJ Styles and James Storm are in talks with WWE/NXT, but is there any truth to them?
Recently, the rumors that AJ Styles and WWE were in talks ended up being looked at as just that — rumors. Others in New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), where Styles is under contract, said that word found its way to them and they knew of no contact between the former world champion and WWE.
Well, it seems as if there really were talks at some point.
Styles’ current contract with NJPW runs into January and then he’s essentially a free agent once again. WrestleZone is saying that there were indeed talks between Styles and WWE about working together, but no contact has been made since Nov. 9.
The former multi-time World Champion and TNA original has said on record that he has no problem going to WWE or even starting in NXT. The thing is, he wants to and will do what is best for his family and to support them.
“At this point in my career, I’m going to go do what’s best for my family and I want to do what’s best to provide for them. So, the business that we’re in, the business could be better somewhere else, then that’s where I’m going to go. That’s what I’m going to do. So, like I said, it’s a business plan. Wherever the plan takes me, that’s where I’ll go.”
In an interesting note, WWE.com recently featured AJ Styles on their website and talked about him and if he had ever been with the company. They posted the match that he had with The Hurricane from way back in January of 2002.
Needless to say it, but that’s some rather convenient timing considering all the rumors going around right now. More will be known by January or hopefully before the end of the year, but for now, it’s a bit of a stalemate.
Another person that many fans have been wondering about is former TNA World Champion James Storm and what his current status is. A little over a month ago, Storm worked the NXT tapings and was welcomed in huge fashion by the fans and Triple H.
Of course, this had everyone wondering what exactly was going to happen with him from that point forward.
According to Wrestling Inc. , there are negotiations going on between WWE and James Storm at the current time. As of this week though, he hasn’t officially signed a contract with the company and is working on a per-basis appearance type deal.
To make matters a little more exciting, WWE and NXT aren’t letting people forget about it.
Will we ever stop talking about @JamesStormBrand ‘s shocking @WWENXT debut? Doubtful. #SorryAboutYourDamnLuck #WWENXT https://t.co/2UmF0MZETw

Making things even better is that James Storm is having fun with everyone and all of the fans as he’s not letting it go either.
Oh if you think that’s something to talk about. Just wait……That’s only the beginning. #SorryAboutYourDAMNLuck https://t.co/G3TJDlkq61

WWE is seriously hurting right now as there are so many main event level talents out with injury or taking personal time off. Even if that wasn’t the case though, there are so many people who would love to see James Storm and AJ Styles both have good runs in NXT, WWE, or both.
