It’s less than a week until the big end-of-the-summer spectacular from WWE, and that’s SummerSlam . Being expanded to four hours instead of three meant there would be some extra space to fill up, and they’ve done just that. Two more matches were officially announced on Monday, and that brings the total to 10, but some changes could still happen by the time Sunday comes around.
Jon Stewart was announced as the host of SummerSlam , and during the day, a big grudge match was revealed, as well.
For weeks, Randy Orton and Sheamus have been after one another with most of the time, the “Viper” coming out on top. They’ve taken part in regular tag team and even six-man tag team matches, but now they will get each other one-on-one.
There was another match which was added during the middle of the Monday Night RAW broadcast, and it’s been building for weeks, too.
Rusev will face off with Dolph Ziggler at SummerSlam , and the men will have Summer Rae and Lana in their respective corners. Now, there are a lot of rumors surrounding this match, and it could end up being made into a mixed tag team match. If it isn’t and stays a singles match, then expect the mixed tag to take place at Night of Champions .
With those two matches added, there are 10 confirmed matches on the card for SummerSlam , and it looks like a good one. A few of them are potential show-stealers, and hopefully will be given the time needed to come off well.
Here is the current card as of the end of the go-home Monday Night RAW :
- The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar
- “Winner Take All” Match for WWE Title and U.S. Title: Seth Rollins vs. John Cena
- WWE Intercontinental Title: Ryback vs. The Big Show vs. The Miz
- WWE Tag Team Titles: Prime Time Players vs. The New Day vs. Lucha Dragons vs. Los Matadores
- Sheamus vs. Randy Orton
- Kevin Owens vs. Cesaro
- Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose vs. The Wyatt Family
- Dolph Ziggler vs. Rusev
- Stephen Amell & Nevill vs. King Barrett & Stardust
- 9-Diva Elimination Tag Match : Team BAD vs. Team Bella vs. PCB
That’s a pretty big card with all titles, except the Divas Title, being defended. As of now, this should end up being the final match listing for SummerSlam . Unless there is an injury of some sort or something else drastic, there shouldn’t be any big changes.
SummerSlam is going to be a huge event for WWE this year, and that is evident by the four-hour time-frame it has. Ten matches is huge, and having Jon Stewart as the host makes it even bigger, but could some more surprises be coming?
