The talk in WWE right now is about a number of different topics besides Hulk Hogan’s reputed racist comments. Points of interest for wrestling fans include SummerSlam , Daniel Bryan’s health , and what is going on with Sting ?
Still, there are a lot of other things going on, and one such item is about what’s happening with Rob Van Dam. Recently, the longtime superstar offered an update on his future. He spoke about returning to WWE and also addressed the possibility of his retirement from wrestling.
It was back in April of last year that Rob Van Dam reappeared in WWE and had a brief, four-month run with the company. He finished up shortly after SummerSlam and even picked up a victory over current WWE champion Seth Rollins before disappearing again.
Rob Van Dam appeared on Friday at the Mid-Atlantic Legends Fanfest and went through a Q&A session in which he addressed a number of important subjects. One of them is his current contract status with WWE.
RVD did state that he is currently in between WWE contracts at this time, but he’s still in contact with WWE management. There is always the possibility of working with Ring of Honor or TNA, but RVD simply said that won’t happen because it would breach a deal he does have in place with WWE.
What he’s talking about is his merchandise deal with WWE, and it’s still making him some good money. He does have intentions and plans to return to the company at some point, but he’s not in a rush to do so at this time.
As Wrestling Inc. reported, Rob Van Dam would like to do a retirement tour at some point to finish off his career. The only thing is that he’s not ready to retire yet, and Rob has no idea when he will be ready.
Rob Van Dam did say that he is going to keep on wrestling until an undisclosed time, but he’s not ready to reveal when that is just yet. He added that the time really isn’t “too far off,” so the in-ring time for the 44-year-old is somewhat short.
Over the past few years, Rob Van Dam has been making sporadic appearances in WWE and in different indy promotions around the country. Fans would love to see him have one more big run before he calls it a career.
It isn’t exactly known when Rob Van Dam will return to WWE, but he maintains a good relationship with the company, and it will happen. Anyone that is a big fan of RVD needs to pay close attention because it could be his final big run before retirement.
