There are many fans around the world who feel Roman Reigns should not get the type of monster pushes the WWE is giving him. Fans have spoken out and loudly let their opinions be known, and a lot of them simply don’t want him headlining WrestleMania 32 . While a number of wrestlers have spoken out in support of him, former Intercontinental Champion and current Lucha Underground star John Morrison was rather judgmental of Reigns.
Morrison is currently on the roster for Lucha Underground, and he’s wrestling as Johnny Mundo. He was a part of WWE from the beginning of his career in 2002 after being a co-winner on Tough Enough , and all the way to 2011, when he left the company.
He has since wrestled on the independent circuit and been a part of Lucha Underground for the first two seasons. During his time in WWE, he won multiple championship belts and was well respected as a great talent.
Recently, Morrison (Mundo) spoke with the World According To Wrestling podcast, and he was asked about a number of different things. One of the most interesting comments came when he was asked about who he would like to wrestle in the future, and that’s when he came down hard on Roman Reigns.
“Well I’ve fought most them. Everyone knows some day I’m gonna beat the crap out of Seth Rollins – that would be awesome. I’d love to beat the crap out of him. I’d just love to have a great match with Seth Rollins. Roman Reigns, I’d love to wrestle him in like 10 years if he’s still wrestling, because by then hopefully he’d figure out how to work.”
Well, then.
Morrison’s strong words about Roman Reigns have been echoed by a number of talents in the past who chose to remain anonymous. Since he’s not currently on the WWE roster, Morrison can pretty much say whatever he pleases without the possibility of discipline.
It is interesting that he chose two former members of The Shield as those he’d like to wrestle, even if he was not very complimentary of Reigns. John Morrison and Seth Rollins have been longtime friends, and many fans would love to see that match as well.
With his dream matches being with two current superstars in WWE, a return to the company may be possible one day for Morrison. He’s always said the door is never closed and that he left on pretty good terms so it’s always an option.
John Morrison actually had a lot of things to say recently, and he spoke with Wrestling Inc. about Shane McMahon’s return to WWE and how the prodigal son originally left. There has been a lot of talk lately that there is real-life drama with the McMahon family behind the scenes.
It appears to have started a long time ago, as Morrison said that Shane-O-Mac’s departure from WWE six years ago wasn’t seen as a big deal.
“He just left and then a few days later somebody said ‘Shane left.’ (laughs) It wasn’t a huge deal. He was never a huge part of the show where he was on every episode of [WWE Monday Night] RAW. I like him as a person, and I think he’s got a good energy. He obviously never had to wrestle, but he wanted to because he was a fan of the business, and I respect that.”
That’s quite the interesting statement considering all that has been swirling lately about Vince McMahon favoring Stephanie McMahon over Shane. Maybe all of that bad blood in the McMahon family children is really coming to life in storylines.
John Morrison is a very talented superstar, one who can do pretty much whatever he wants in the ring. He’s having great success as Johnny Mundo in Lucha Underground, but a return to WWE may be needed some day so he can back up those words to Roman Reigns.
