There have been plenty of WWE rumors surrounding the possibility that AJ Styles will defeat Jinder Mahal this coming Tuesday night on SmackDown Live . The two superstars were recently booked to compete in a battle for Mahal’s WWE Championship by SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon since Jinder had attacked Styles. So does Styles have a chance to win the championship, or will Mahal continue his reign? The latest match betting odds could tell fans the story on who is expected to win or at least who is the favorite to win Tuesday night’s match.
It was reported on Monday by WWE Leaks that betting odds for the big SmackDown Live title fight were officially published online. As of this report, “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles is a -155 favorite in terms of recent moneyline odds, while “The Modern Day Maharaja” Jinder Mahal is the underdog priced at +115. For these particular numbers, fans would have to wager $155 on Styles to win $100 if he wins. A $100 bet on Mahal at +115 would result in a $115 payout. Based on the odds, it’s being suggested that Styles is the “favorite to win” but not necessarily the favorite to win the championship.
The online sportsbook 5 Dimes is one book that is mentioned as offering odds for this particular match. It makes for the second SmackDown Live match in the past several months to have been given odds. A previous match involving John Cena vs. Shinsuke Nakamura also was given odds for who would win their main event match to become No. 1 contender for Jinder Mahal’s WWE Championship.
Styles could win the match against Mahal due to a disqualification or count out-type situation. While that would make him the match winner and satisfy the bets made on “The Phenomenal One,” it would also keep the WWE Championship belt around Jinder Mahal’s waist. Mahal already called out WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar for a “Champion vs. Champion” match at Survivor Series with John Cena expected to be the special referee.
Still, fans would certainly be surprised to see Styles get the title back on Tuesday. Even if he wins it, there could be a variety of things that WWE has in the works to put the title back on Mahal ahead of Survivor Series . It seems for all intents and purposes, John Cena will take on “The Modern Day Maharaja” at WrestleMania 34 , based on the WWE rumors, so stay tuned for Tuesday night’s outcome.
