Brock Lesnar has an extremely unique deal with WWE, and it’s not surprising that they gave him one that works for him. The guy draws like no other, and he has a schedule that just never really includes non-televised events. Well, he’s already done one this year in Tokyo for WWE Beast in the East , and now he’s being advertised for an October event at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Who will he face and why?
The official website for Madison Square Garden is promoting the WWE Live event which will happen on Oct. 3 in New York City, and Lesnar is getting top billing.
“Brock Lesnar returns to The Garden for the first time in over 10 years accompanied by New York’s own Paul Heyman!”
Now, it doesn’t say who Lesnar will be facing or what he’ll be doing at the WWE Live event, but it is one that is not going to be televised. That doesn’t mean that the company won’t end up using it for the WWE Network or something else, but as of now, it’s just going to be a huge house show.
Other matches being promoted for the event are:
- WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match – WWE Champ Seth Rollins vs. U.S. Champ John Cena
- Randy Orton vs. Sheamus
- Dolph Ziggler vs. Rusev
Chris Jericho is also being promoted to appear at the event with a number of other superstars. The site says Jericho will be celebrating his “25th wrestling anniversary” that night too.
With events like this being announced so far in advance, they don’t take into account what could happen at other events happening before them. Oct. 3 is a long time away and SummerSlam still needs to take place in August and then Night of Champions on Sept. 20.
By that point, Rollins and/or Cena may not have those titles and may not be involved in a feud with each other either. As always, card is subject to change.
The fact that Brock Lesnar is on the card is the biggest news of all, though. WrestleZone reported that the Madison Square Garden show will be only the third non-televised event for Lesnar since his return in 2012. The Beast in the East special earlier in July was his second.
Lesnar’s involvement made the Tokyo show a much bigger deal and was promoted in a huge way for WWE Network. It’s possible that the Madison Square Garden show could end up getting the same attention.
Madison Square Garden will have a WWE Live Event in early October, but it’s already been made into a huge deal with the addition of Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman. Not much is known about the event so far, but it looks like it’s going to be much bigger than a house show.
