The biggest story coming out of NXT TakeOver: The End may not have been the results of any of the five matches. Former TNA Champion Bobby Roode was shown heading to William Regal’s office in a segment from earlier in the day, so an official announcement about his NXT signing can be expected in the very near future. Also making a surprise appearance was legendary tag team manager Paul Ellering, who was apparently behind a mystery tag team attacking American Alpha after they dropped the tag team titles to The Revival.

With their victory over American Alpha at NXT TakeOver , The Revival became the first tag team in NXT history to be two-time champions (although Adrian Neville was a NXT Tag Team Champion with two different partners). It was easily the biggest surprise match-ending of The End , The Revival getting what was ultimately a clean victory over the hottest tag team on the NXT roster.
Note: The following contains the full results and spoilers for NXT TakeOver: The End that first aired on the WWE Network on June 8.

Every NXT title was on the line at The End , but only the NXT Tag Team Championships changed hands. On top of the surprise appearances by Roode and Ellering and American Alpha dropping their titles, both Samoa Joe and Asuka retained their titles, Nakamura defeated Aries, and the former La Sombra made a successful NXT debut.
NXT TakeOver: The End results
The following matches took place at NXT TakeOver: The End on Wednesday night. The event aired live from Full Sail University outside of Orlando, Florida.
Samoa Joe defeated Finn Balor
In another classic between two of the greatest workers under any WWE brand, Samoa Joe defeated Finn Balor in what is being touted as the Demon’s first Steel Cage Match. Both wrestlers hit a lot of big spots, but the NXT Champion ultimately retained. They were playing up Balor having an injury after the match, which could explain a sudden exit from NXT and a jump to the main roster to join The Bullet Club with AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson.

Asuka defeated Nia Jax
The mind games and unique in-ring style of NXT Women’s Champion Asuka were enough to overcome the massive size and strength disadvantage she had against challenger Nia Jax. With Bayley expected to make the jump to the main roster before the WWE Draft and brand split, it’s hard to imagine who will step up to Asuka after Nia Jax. If neither of them are joining Bayley in her move to Monday Night RAW or WWE SmackDown , it seems reasonable that the feud could continue between the two most intimidating women on the NXT roster.

Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Austin Aries
The King of Strong Style overcame The Greatest Man That Ever Lived in a match that made the NXT Universe at FSU explode. It’s too bad that either of these two had to lose so early in their NXT career, but it will be interesting to see where each of them goes from here. The match wasn’t officially a No. 1 contender’s match, although it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Shinsuke Nakamura headlining the next NXT TakeOver event.

The Revival defeated American Alpha
This match earned the first “this-is-awe-some” chant from the NXT Universe at The End , just a few minutes before The Revival pulled a complete shocker by becoming the first-ever team to win the NXT Tag Team Championship twice. American Alpha had been on fire in NXT since before they won the straps at NXT TakeOver: Dallas , so to have them drop the titles at the very next TakeOver event was a surprise to many.

Then, as the former champs were recovering in the ring, they were attacked by a tag team previously unseen on NXT television. While the name of the team wasn’t revealed, legendary manager Paul Ellering showed his face. No doubt more information about this new tag team will be made available very soon.
Andrade “Cien” Almas defeated Tye Dillinger
Almas survived a brilliant superkick from the “Perfect 10” and finished Dillinger off with double knees into the corner (as seen in the video below). The match got the NXT Universe pumped, as they were supportive of Dillinger but also very excited for the debut of “Cien.” Almas didn’t say a lot and he didn’t reveal much about his personality, but he did make it clear that he has the ability in the ring to hang with the NXT Superstars.
