Dave Batista, fresh off his comeback run with WWE, is now going full throttle in the movie business. His new movie “Guardians of the Galaxy” is supposed to hit theaters August 1. Batista, regardless of the mass amounts of “boos,” still has plans to return to the WWE.
Multiple sources report that during the recent Wizard World Philadelphia Comic-Con, Batista, who was on hand to promote the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy film that he is one of the stars of, confirmed that he will, in fact, be returning to WWE once all of his commitments to the film are completed.
Batista adds a lot to WWE’s group of talent, that has taken quite a hit recently. Daniel Bryan suffered a neck injury, leaving him out of action until further notice. Intercontinental champion Wade Barrett suffered a shoulder injury last night that may force the Brit out of Money in the Bank.
To be quite honest, I’m not sure why Batista wants to return to WWE. All the hateful reactions he received for putting over young stars showed a display of selfishness and blunt opinions. Batista took the boos to heart, which is unusual for a star of his caliber. He is a 2-time WWE champion, 4-time World Heavyweight champion and 2-time Royal Rumble winner.
That is where the outrage began with Batista. The “part-time” pro wrestler came back for another run with the company, and then won the Royal Rumble. Needless to say, “Bootista” became more popular than his real name.
Amidst the pessimism and overreaction to his character, the WWE will welcome back Batista with open arms. Like it was noted above, they are lacking in the star department.
Brock Lesnar will be returning at SummerSlam this year, adding to the main event talent. Since he will be tied up with whoever is WWE World Heavyweight champion, what will Batista be doing with WWE upon his return? Do not expect any gold immediately.
Triple H and Randy Orton will be involved for sure, as they were the reason for Batista’s resignation from WWE. Evolution won’t be getting back together at the “Biggest Party of the Summer,” nor any time in the future. It is possible that a singles’ match between HHH and Batista could occur down the road, or at the very least Orton.
Coming up with storylines for Batista is not easy with WWE’s current direction. Young stars like Rusev, Big E, Damien Sandow and Cesaro all need a boost. In fact, with the return of Lesnar, what does that mean for the King of Swing? It’s not like he will fall down the totem pole, but a man like Batista would have a huge impact on a fresh career.
The WWE return date for Batista is unknown, but we do know that it is inevitable. With his return will demand another nickname. “Bootista,” “Bluetista,” and “Drax the Destroyer” have already been taken.
