WWE News: Two WWE Legends Weigh In On The Future Of CM Punk

Published on: October 1, 2014 at 9:58 AM

CM Punk left the WWE at the beginning of this calendar year. After his excellent Royal Rumble appearance, the former-WWE champion was scheduled to feud against Kane at No Way Out, and then wrestle Triple H at WrestleMania 30. Clearly, Punk was fed up with the creative direction he was heading in and somewhere along the way, he lost the passion for professional wrestling.

Since then, countless fans, legends, WWE officials and current-WWE superstars commented on if Punk will one day return to the place that made him a worldwide phenomena. Some say that he will never return, while the optimists claim that everybody returns eventually.

There are truths to both sides of the coin. If the Ultimate Warrior returned, then so can Punk. Then again, guys like Goldberg have yet to make a WWE comeback. He’s just one example in that argument. Instead of taking guesses on CM Punk’s future, two WWE legends commented on a potential return. First, let’s start with the true “ Voice of the WWE .”

“I wonder what the chance would be to see a CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar WM31 WWE Title Bout? Stranger things have happened and that pairing would guarantee WWE a ton of new subscribers and likely ignite the PPV marketplace as well. Communication and money solve many ills and that would be a terrific main event considering that as it stands today WWE has major work to do in assembling what looks to be more of an ensemble card than one that is one or two main event heavy at this time. I’m sure that I’m not alone in wanting to see a Lesnar-Punk headliner at WM31 because it equates to big money for all involved.”

That’s certainly one way to look at a bad situation. What if Roman Reigns isn’t ready for the big main event at WrestleMania 31 against Brock Lesnar? Personally, I don’t think this match will happen this year, if ever. Ross is very keen on the WWE’s views and opinions on money, so that’s very possible.

Punk and Lesnar could sell-out WrestleMania 31 by themselves. The only way I’d do it is by having Punk return on March 1. If he came back next week on Raw, the mystique of Punk would subside by December. That magic of Punk returning would need to be at an all-time high.

Next, we’re onto another WWE legend with a few opinions of his own. His account can be held to a higher respect, because this legend was a personal friend to CM Punk.

“Is there a future for CM Punk in #WWE? I have always liked Punk (seen here with me backstage at a 1995 UK event) and respected the way he marched to the beat of his own drummer. While there is part of me that thinks we have seen the last of Punk in the world of sports -entertainment, I can’t help but wonder if that beat he marches to will lead him straight to a huge event at #Wrestlemania.

“Certainly, his promos alone would make WWE Monday Night Raw must-see TV, and the mere prospect of seeing an angry Punk, with a chip on his shoulder, could create any number of scenarios for memorable Mania match ups.

“Only Punk knows for sure…and he’s not talking.”

Leave it to Mick Foley to keep the crowd rolling in their thoughts about the most-controversial wrestler in the world. There are truths to what Foley said. Only Punk knows what he will do next. Eventually, his mindset will change and a comeback can then be discussed.

Even the WWE said they would be open to a return only two days ago. That won’t change, unless Punk does something really stupid. Luckily for the fans, he isn’t an idiot. Every person is open to his or her beliefs and Punk chose to go down a path that few dare to go down.

One day, the WWE Universe will finally know the honest intentions of CM Punk. Since January of this year, his return came into question. That will not stop until “Cult of Personality” hits a WWE event anywhere in the world.
