WWE News: Neville Denies Ever Being Pitched Mighty Mouse Gimmick

Prior to being brought up from NXT to the main WWE roster, there were rumors and reports stating that Adrian Neville was slated to enter WWE under the guise of a gimmick styled upon the classic cartoon character Mighty Mouse.

In a recent interview with The PodNasty Wrestling Podcast , Neville denies that he was ever pitched or booked for for the Might Mouse gimmick.

“There’s no truth in [The Mighty Mouse rumors] actually.

“I guess I was just more surprised than anything. Sometimes you get the wildest things just pop up and that was one of those things that it was funny at the time I guess.”

Several media outlets reported on the proposed gimmick this past December. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter , Figure Four Weekly , and PWInsider all reported that a “Mighty Mouse style” re-packaging for Adrian Neville was in the cards as WWE scheduled Neville’s call-up from NXT.

In December 2014, the Inquisitr reported that, “The current plan WWE has for Neville was described to PWInsider.com as ‘Mighty Mouse-esque.’ Mighty Mouse was a cartoon mouse who was also a superhero. He was small, but he did big things. He was basically the mouse form of Superman, so the concept shouldn’t be like the old NXT Conner O’Brien gimmick that was rat-like.”

Typically in wrestling, where there is smoke there is fire. Despite the denial from Neville on the proposed gimmick, it’s possible that it was something being tossed around internally without ever officially being pitched directly to Neville himself. The internal discussions are what likely leaked to the wrestling media outlets who initially reported the story back in December.

In his interview with The PodNasty Wrestling Podcast , Neville also discussed which wrestlers on the WWE roster he would like to work programs with in the future.

“I’d love to, at some point, mix it up with Cesaro. Cesaro’s a guy I’ve wrestled a few times in NXT and a guy who I’ve known for a long time. I feel like we certainly bring out the best in each other.

“Daniel Bryan is a guy I’d like to mix it up with at some point, Tyson Kidd Kevin Owens–you know we have a lot of history in NXT and he’s another guy I’ve known for a long time so there’s so many different options.”

Neville will be wrestling at Sunday’s WWE Money In The Bank PPV show . He will take part in the traditional Money in the Bank ladder match alongside Roman Reigns, Dolph Ziggler, Randy Orton, Kofi Kingston, Sheamus, and Kane.
