In what can only be seen as a move that will make WWE fans scratch their heads for a week, it has been announced that Internet sensation the Grumpy Cat will be appearing on Monday Night RAW to host the show. You know, because a cat that cannot talk and apparently had one video that was funny and would NEVER be exploited due to that can do great at this “hosting” thing.
While I get the idea behind it, WWE is PG and knows the Internet is a big part of today’s youth….do they not read the countless articles on what they do wrong? Paying attention to the internet is a great thing. I am all for WWE doing this. It can help them make their product better and they are able to get opinions instantly.
However, bringing in a cat to host WWE RAW is probably the dumbest thing most of us have ever heard. Even kids at home are like, “really WWE?”
While the concept makes sense, it is just crazy. Stephanie McMahon did comment on it however, saying…
“WWE’s mission is to put smiles on people’s faces – and now we will attempt the same with Grumpy Cat! We are going to do everything in our power to make sure she has a good time.”
The idea of putting smiles on faces is wonderful by WWE. I love the thought of WWE giving us content that we will love…but this isn’t it. By far, this has gotten the worst Internet reaction since the rumor of Justin Beiber performing the National Anthem at WrestleMania a while back. In fact, some have claimed they’d rather see him than the cat.
The cat will not be the grumpy one, but rather all the WWE fans who have to put up with it.
We do not know what WWE will do with the cat just yet, so we cannot be too upset. However, if the cat is in numerous segments taking time away from the show….I’m calling Airbud to save us from it.
People.com originally broke the news. However, it has been uncertain if WWE will have the cat host or guest star. She is there to promote her new Lifetime movie Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever . The beautiful Aubrey Plaza voiced Grumpy Cat in the film. Most fans would be all for her being on the show instead of the cat. She may actually be there too, but who knows?
What do you think of the move? Should WWE have a cat as host or guest star on a Pro-Wrestling show?
