WWE Superstar Wade “Bad News” Barrett has been out of action for months due to a separated shoulder, which caused him to have surgery. Barrett had to drop the Intercontinental Championship he was holding as a result. Barrett is now set to come back to WWE programming soon. WWE and Barrett were eyeing a return to the ring on WWE’s European Tour. The goal was to have him return at the WWE RAW show in Liverpool in hopes to have a huge ovation for his comeback. As we know, that didn’t happen.
It is said that Barrett was able to perform but WWE wanted to take precautions. He is much better than he was, but he has not fully recovered from his injury. That said, WWE didn’t want to put him in the ring and risk anything when they could wait. Wade has been training hard to be back to WWE programming; however, he has not worked in the ring much. He is set to train at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, FL before coming back to WWE TV .
According to the Wrestling Observer , the hope is that he will be healthy enough to return to WWE in 4-6 weeks. That would have him able to return in December. The idea would most likely be to have him return the night after the TLC PPV and gear up for the Royal Rumble . Another concept is that he could simply return at the Rumble itself. However, Barrett has been waiting a while so it would make sense for him to come back as soon as possible.
Many think that WWE could be contemplating a push for the man of bad news, if he is able to stay healthy. Barrett was holding the IC Title before his injury, so it is a thought that he might win that back sooner rather than later. Due to him getting over, well, mostly due to the Bad News gimmick, WWE has enjoyed using him as often as possible in various capacities.
Barrett is set to be part of the panel at Survivor Series , so we will most likely see him deliver his classic bad news leading up to his return. WWE could always have him return sooner than originally thought to have him do a similar thing that he did before. If he is simply there to deliver bad news, ideally it doesn’t take much shoulder difficulty. That said, he could work TV tapings easily in a speaking role.
Regardless, Barrett is close to being able to return to the ring once again. WWE fans like Barrett, despite his normally heel nature. That said, one would expect him to return to WWE as a face for a bit, as fans just want to cheer for the guy. Even good guys can deliver bad news when needed.
