‘WrestleMania 31’: What To Expect From Roman Reigns Vs. Brock Lesnar Match On Sunday

WrestleMania 31 is setting up to be a big show. While the card may not be what the hardcore fans want, the show has matches for everyone. However, one match that has started to gain a lot more attention is the main event: Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar. While a lot of people were hating the mere idea that WWE would allow such a match to take place, there was another thought among some fans regarding it.

Brock Lesnar is known for his physical strength and ability in the ring. There are very few who can be considered stronger or more athletic than The Beast Incarnate. Then we have the blue chip prospect known as Roman Reigns , who is exciting in his best moments. However, his main problem is that he is a momentary talent. You wait for the big moves with Roman, but there is little in between that makes him look great. Due to this, he gets flack for his wrestling ability.

The opposite is true with Lesnar. Everything he does in a match sets up something else. There is no wasted move at any point. In a world where fans want something different, WWE gives us that with Lesnar.

Both are big, strong athletes. However, what could they bring to the table that a good technical match could not? We have one man known for his freak athletic ability and another known for bringing big moments who lacks in other areas.

The answer is in the fight itself. WWE can make this a brawl that will go down as one of the most hard hitting matches in the history of WrestleMania . Many believe blood has to be involved. It must look like whoever wins will have not only earned it, but went through hell and back to get such a win. Regardless of who wins, both men have to come out looking good.

The only way to do this is by making it an evenly-matched brawl that would put both into an area where they could be seen as good.

We know by now that Brock Lesnar re-signed with WWE. He claimed that going back to the world of MMA wasn’t for him anymore. Lesnar signed a multi-year deal, which means we’ll get to see Brock for a long time. WWE had Lesnar announce this decision on ESPN to bring up thoughts that the match on Sunday could go either way. It has done just that.

Many fans believe that since Brock has re-signed, WWE will have him win. Yet the rumor since last summer was that Reigns was going to win the match.

The only person who currently knows the outcome of the match is Vince McMahon, and he won’t spill any secrets. It is thought that no one will know the finish to the match until it is about to take place. This would add mystery and make sure that fans remain interested in the match.

The fact remains as well that this match could have a lot of endings. There are rumors of a double turn, which means Reigns would turn heel and Lesnar would turn face. There is a thought that Heyman could switch sides at the end and align with Reigns. Another thought is that the winner will get cashed-in on by Money in the Bank winner Seth Rollins. WWE could go a ton of places with this match.

That makes this match ultimately compelling, regardless of how people feel about Roman or Brock.

The fact is that we’re interested in knowing what is going to happen. Whether or not we care for either man means zilch. We care about the finish, even if it is to see someone go down that we don’t like. Even people who don’t like either will cheer for a cash-in.

On top of that, people are already hating the match. That means that all Reigns and Lesnar really have to do is go out and give a worthy main event. It doesn’t have to be a five-star event, but it has to appear like it is. With people already not giving the match a chance, anything good from the match will prove that it was worthy to end the show.

WrestleMania 31 is a stacked card with dream matches and believed classics. We have the in-ring debut of Sting, The Undertaker coming back, mid-card heroes fighting for lost gold, and divas who just want to be given a chance. Then we have Reigns/Lesnar.

Can we expect a Randy Savage/Ricky Steamboat type of match? No, as that would expect far too much. However, can we expect a worthy main event? Probably so. The main reason is because both men have something to prove. Can they go out and prove they deserve this spot? It’s tough to say. However, Lesnar and Reigns are competitive. Brock Lesnar didn’t come back to be lesser than he was before, and Roman Reigns didn’t sign up with WWE to be number four or five.

The only way to prove people wrong is to go out and show that you are as good as the company claims you are.

WWE could go a lot of ways at the end of the day. However, there is one glaring fact that will be up for debate. Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns may not be the main event we wanted, but we may get the main event we deserved.
