World War 3 worries have some pointing out how Ukraine is alleging that Russian forces are behind recent attacks that seized government buildings, while recently Secretary of State John Kerry has vowed tougher responses to actions by the Putin administration in Crimea.
In a related report by The Inquisitr , a little over a month ago the former President of Ukraine said Russia’s military action could trigger World War 3 :
“They have gone beyond their base and occupied Crimea – it is conquered territory. Russia violated the Budapest Memorandum. Ukraine has every reason to go to international arbitration. I call on the Russian authorities to stop. Between our peoples should not be war. Does Russia not understand that this is the beginning of World War 3?”
The White House has tried in vain to fight back against Russia in the political arena, but Vladimir Putin had a nuclear ICBM test-fired as a show of force just as he confronted President Obama publicly via the media. Things got even more tense when Russia’s state TV news declared that Russia’s nuclear weapons could reduce the “United States into radioactive ash.” But then some experts declared we were already waging a different type of World War 3 , but this time the battlefield was currency wars and economic sanctions.
Some critics claimed the Obama administration was not doing enough to combat Putin’s move on Crimea, so John Kerry said the United States “will not hesitate to use 21st century tools to hold Russia accountable for 19th century behavior.” Reports have suggested this is just another stepping stone toward starting World War 3, although others suggested Kerry was simply saying the US and Europe needed stronger economic sanctions against Russia. As of today most other countries have not recognized that Russia has officially annexed Crimea from Ukraine.
Now reports are coming in that pro-Russian forces have seized control of government buildings within Ukraine. Acting President Oleksandr Turchynov are calling these actions an attack backed by Russia and the US Ambassador to Ukraine, Geoffrey Pyatt, says the “militants in eastern Ukraine were equipped with Russian weapons and the same uniforms as those worn by Russian forces that invaded Crimea.” Russia officially claims “such statements are based on nothing,” but similar statements were made after a Russian Black Sea fleet commander issued an ultimatum for war and reporters on-site claimed they heard it with their own ears.
Already, Ukraine is saying it will deploy its military against these alleged Russia-backed forces and they’re giving them until Monday to surrender. Ukraine’s former president, Viktor Yanukovych, who was ousted from power back in February, is telling Ukrainian forces to ignore the “criminal orders” of Ukraine’s current government and he’s even blaming the United States for the conflict:
“The U.S. has its share of responsibility in starting a civil war in Ukraine. It intrudes and tells Ukraine what to do.”
Are you concerned the conflict between Russia and Ukraine could trigger World War 3?
