A bright and promising high school student who was in the top two percent of her class was in a car wreck that left her with traumatic brain injuries. After years of dealing with poor impulse control and increased sexual desires, the girl became a dominatrix. Now 23, Alissa Afonina was awarded $1.5 million for “future lost earnings” as the judge ruled her career as a dominatrix is a result of the brain injury.

According to the Daily Mail , Alissa Afonina from Canada , was an incoming high school senior when she was involved in a car crash in August of 2008. Alissa was a promising student and ranked in the top two percent of her class. However, following the accident, the girl was left with no impulse control. Alissa could no longer follow through with tasks, made frequent outbursts in class and made sexually inappropriate comments to others. As a result, Alissa dropped out of high school her senior year and completed the grade from home.

The bright young student, who had wanted to be a filmmaker, was left with an inability to hold down a job and only attended college for a short period of time before turning to the sex industry. The NY Daily News notes that Alissa became sex-crazed following the auto accident and was incredibly impulsive. Therefore, she soon found employment as a dominatrix named Sasha Mizaree and continues to work in the trade at the age of 23. Alissa’s lawyer claimed that the brain injuries caused a significant change in Alissa’s character, The change in thinking is what Alissa’s lawyer says resulted in her becoming a dominatrix. The judge agreed and awarded Alissa $1.5 million for lost “future earnings.”

Justice Joel Grove says his decision was based on the fact that following the crash, Alissa “struggled to cope in a normal way, and the brain injury stopped her from succeeding at her academic and employment goals.”

“She is now only qualified and able to deal with entry level jobs for a few hours a day. Without the injury, she could have completed college or university and been qualified for a better job.”

The $1.5 million in damages awarded to Alissa broke down as follows: $825,000 for “future capacity loss”, $376,000 for the cost of future care, $300,000 for pain and suffering, and $23,000 for special damages. Alissa’s mother was also awarded $943,000 in damages for her injuries.

What do you think about the judge’s decision regarding Alissa’s inability to reach her full potential after becoming a dominatrix following the car crash?
