Wimbledon 2013 continues today with day three of early rounds. Two of the most interesting matches to watch today will be those of Roger Federer and home boy Andy Murray, who will be back in action.
With a partly cloudy day expected, there should be a full day of tennis ahead for fans.
Latvian player J.W. Tsonga, who is seeded No. 6 and is the only challenger left to the top three now that Nadal is out , is expected to win comfortably against Ernests Gulbis.
“I’m the most dangerous unseeded player in the draw.” the Latvian claimed.
In a match that seems to be already in Andy Murray’s pocket, the local hero will face Yen-Hsun Lu. On paper, he has no real chance, and he readily admits it.
“It’ll be a very tough one for me,” said Lu. “I’ll just try to bring my best performance against him. If you’re asking me right now do I expect to beat him, I say not.”
Andy Murray is not only the crowd favorite to win Wimbledon 2013, but he is the US Open Champion, and he also won the Olympics last summer at the All England Club.
The Scot had no major problems in his first round victory against the German Becker and is expected to cruise through his match against Lu who had to battle another Brit in four sets.
But the Taiwanese player beat Murray back in the 2008 Olympics so he is not taking anything for granted. The obvious prediction, however, is that Murray will win easily.
The day closes at Centre Court when Roger Federer returns to face Serguy Stakhovsky. The Swiss player is the defending champion and has won seven times.
He looked in full form on his first round match against Victor Hanescu and proved why he is one of the best players in the world on grass.
Will there be any further upsets at Wimbledon 2013 ?
