Bachelor In Paradise contestant Dan Cox isn’t new to reality TV, but it’s been awhile since fans have seen the 32-year-old sales director on television. Cox, who lives in Las Vegas, appeared on Season 9 of the Bachelorette , but failed to find a love connection with Desiree Hartsock.
Dan wasn’t a controversial contestant on the Bachelorette , so his addition to the BIP cast may make him as much of a surprise as the show’s mystery woman . Desiree sent him home on the third week on her season, but spoilers indicate that he will make it much further in Paradise.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal , Cox, 32, is a “beverage entrepreneur” (liquor salesman?) who works at Bruvado Imports in Las Vegas. Perhaps he will be running the bar, or at least mixing cocktails for his dates at the Playa Escondida Resort where the show was filmed.
Little else is known about the handsome 6-foot-tall contestant other than the basics — he graduated from California State University with a degree in Economics and Business Administration and was part of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity.
Dan is one of 29 cast members who will try to find love, or at least a hookup, on the second season of ABC’s Bachelor spinoff. Filmed in Sayulita, Mexico, the reality show’s premiere will start with 15 cast members on night one.
Throughout the season, 14 additional contestants from previous seasons of the Bachelor and Bachelorette will arrive in Mexico for dates, drama, and a little romance. One of his castmates from Desiree Hartsock’s season, Mikey Tenerelli , is also a contestant on the show.
How far does Dan make it on the show, and does he find love?
[Spoilers ahead]
According to Reality Steve’s Bachelor in Paradise spoilers, Dan takes Ashley Salter (the “onion girl” from Chris Soules’ season) on a date on the first night of competition. No cliff jumping or helicopter rides for these two — they have a normal date that includes dinner in old town Puerto Vallarta.
Dan gives Ashley a rose at the end of the first episode, and she returns the favor by giving him a rose on Episode 2. There are rumors that Ashley is carted off in an ambulance at some point this season, after suffering from heat exhaustion. Cox reportedly accompanies her to the hospital — is it a sign that love is in the air?
Apparently not. On Episode 3, spoilers indicate that Amber James (Chris Soules’ season) arrives on the show and Dan says “yes” when she asks him on a date. Things go well enough for Amber to get a rose from Dan, but on Episode 4, she dumps him for Justin Reich (Kaitlyn’s season) — Samantha Steffan (Chris Soules’ season) saves Dan by giving him a rose.
None of the women Dan goes on dates with turn into a relationship — spoilers indicate that he leaves the show before the Episode 5 rose ceremony.
The two-night season premiere of ABC’s Bachelor in Paradise airs at 8 p.m. ET on August 2.
