The Westboro Baptist Church is blaming the devastating tornado that destroyed Moore, Oklahoma, on gay NBA player Jason Collins .
So what does Jason Collins have to do with Oklahoma? Well, nothing really. But we was commended for his bravery last month by Oklahoma City Thunder player Kevin Durant. And that apparently upset God. Hey, the Lord does work in mysterious ways.
Fred Phelps Jr., the son of Westboro Baptist Church minister Fred Phelps, said: “OK Thunder’s Durant flips God by praising fag Collins. God smashes OK. You do the math.”
Phelps then added a few homophobic hashtags that we won’t republish here. (If you happen to be in the mood for a stream of hatred and ignorance, you can check out the organization’s Twitter account.) Surprisingly, Phelps had something even more disgusting to say. The Westboro Baptist Church member added that the Oklahoma tornado displayed God’s “wonderful wrath.”
This, of course, isn’t the first time that the Westboro Baptist Church has blamed a national disaster on the LGBT community. Hurricane Sandy was blamed on President Obama’s support of marriage equality and Hurricane Katrina was blamed on the Southern Decadence festival in New Orleans.
At the time, chaplain John McTernan wrote : “New Orleans is still hosting Southern Decadence with open homosexuality manifesting in the streets of the city … It could be that God is putting an end to this city and its wickedness.”
The Westboro Baptist Church may be blaming NBA star Kevin Durant for the Oklahoma tornadoes but the rest of the world is thanking the basketball player for his generosity. Durant recently donated $1 million to the Red Cross to aid the relief effort in Moore, Oklahoma.
Praying for the victims of the Tornadoes in OKC these last few days..Everybody stay safe!
