Westboro Baptist Church may be planning to picket Robin Williams’ funeral. The hate group that feels the need to picket everything they think is too popular is now saying the Birdcage actor is “going to Hell” and they plan to picket the late comedian’s funeral.
Their view is that Robin Williams supported gay marriage and further promoted it by starring as a gay man and a cross-dresser in major films. It was reported that the anti-gay hate group has brought protest signs to the headquarters of nine major websites such as Google, YouTube, and Facebook as part of the proposed event. This is part of their plan to tell social media sites that “God hates” them, using the late comedian as an added excuse.
Ironically they used Twitter to promote their upcoming rally, posting a montage of pictures of the late actor with text overlays blasting him for enabling gays, mocking God, being divorced, and simply being famous.

Westboro Baptist Church has been known to take their hatred of practically everything and putting it in everybody’s face. It seems Robin Williams’ funeral might not be exempt from their display of ignorance and outright bigotry.
Since Williams was announced dead from asphyxiation, his death has been all over the news. Most news sites, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube were so full of the news that anyone with a connection would have had a tough time escaping it. There was even a sad trend of leaving the comment “RIP Robin Williams” on posts that had nothing to do with him, which to some was more disrespectful than supportive.
Is there anything that the anti-gay hate group won’t picket? While their methods are actually generally harmless, it’s the message they spread that hurts the most. Westboro Baptist Church is one of the biggest reasons Christianity looks bad these days.
Now they’re planning to picket the funeral of one of the most talented and genuinely nice comedians Hollywood has ever seen. They posted the announcement on Twitter with the hashtags #NoObedienceNoPeace and #MustPicketFuneral, indicating that they will be ready to show their disapproval toward the family of the much-loved actor, among the worst cases of bad taste they have ever shown.
Not liking a popular actor is okay, and people regularly do that all over the internet. Showing disrespect toward an actor who is so loved and revered by picketing their funeral only shows that Westboro Baptist Church is nothing more than a hate group.
Rest in peace, Robin Williams. Go away, WBC.
