Blade, also known as the Daywalker and most notably played by Wesley Snipes, had an okay run. Marvel’s Blade also had a TV show after the Blade trilogy ended, but just like the third Blade film, it did not do well and didn’t feature Snipes. Since time has passed, most Blade fans have assumed Snipes is done with the role. According to Comicbook , this might not be the case . Wesley Snipes maintains that the fate of Marvel’s Blade under his leadership rests on Marvel.
“There’s always a possibility, you know. It’s in Marvel’s hands. They’re controlling the pace and the flow with that. Conversations have been good. They see the value in it. We see the value in it. I’m still in shape enough and fit enough to handle the role. We’ll see how it goes. I don’t really know what’s going to happen to it yet.”
Blade has no news that suggest the Marvel character is joining the Avengers or the film franchise, but the Huffington Post inquired about the idea to Wesley Snipes, and he was not opposed to the idea if Marvel were to pursue it.
“That would be interesting. I mean, I know it’s in the comic book. It would be interesting to see where they would place him and where he really would fit in. He’s got to bite somebody. I don’t know who he’s going to bite.”
Wesley Snipes may or may not play Marvel’s Blade again, but some speculate that Blade might not be the main star of the next film. According to Screenrant , many have suggested that Fallon Grey will be the star of the next Blade film. To put it simply, Fallon Grey is the daughter of Marvel’s Blade. Blade writer Tim Seeley, according to Slashfilm , has a more thorough description .
“She’s a sort of ‘anti-Peter Parker.’ She’s popular, she’s well-liked and it seems like the world is her oyster. But, the expectations that come with being so damn perfect are starting to break her down, and that’s before she learns she’s the heir to a Daywalking-Monster-Stabbing-Empire.”
Blade’s daughter being added to a future Marvel film would certainly carry on the diversity that they seem to be building in their universe, but historically, Blade is a bit darker than Marvel’s current offerings in film or television.
Marvel’s rise on Netflix, which carries slightly darker tales like Daredevil , could signal that their Netflix universe will allow them to carry darker title like Blade. Only time will tell, but fans keep hearing Wesley Snipes remind them that Blade exists and Marvel has the rights to the character again, so it is certainly as likely as ever that the daywalking vampire slayer will return. Blade’s daughter is just as likely.
What are your thoughts? Would like to see Blade return, or his daughter, or at all? Leave your thoughts.
