Wesley Snipes Could Be ‘The Daywalker’ Again In New ‘Blade’ Movie

If Wesley Snipes can be believed, Blade is going to be making a long awaited comeback. At this year’s San Diego Comic Con, Wesley Snipes let the news slip that he’s been in contact with Marvel about bringing the daywalking vampire hunter back to the big screen. It should be pointed out that even the actor didn’t want a recent interview to center about Blade, but considering he was doing the interview at Comic Con he probably should have expected it to be front and center.

Wesley Snipes used to be considered one of the biggest action stars in Hollywood and Blade has to be considered one of his most recognizable roles. Snipes first debuted that role in 1998, and Wesley managed to turn the success of the first film into a trilogy that played a large part in introducing Ryan Reynolds to the cinema-going public. Reynolds, of course is now playing his own Marvel superhero, or anti-superhero, in the form of Deadpool. Interestingly enough, Deadpool and Wesley Snipes’ Blade have a few things in common, including the ability to take a licking and keep on ticking.

Snipes hopes that Blade can keep on ticking his way right into a fourth film, despite the years that have passed between the third iteration and talks of this latest movie. Wesley talked to Deadline and was careful to stay away from saying the project was a done deal. On the other hand the comments he did make, including “I don’t know where it’s on their schedule at this point,” seem to hint that Blade is on their schedule in the first place.

There has also been talk that Wesley Snipes might have been talking to Marvel about other roles in the comic book universe, though that seems less likely if only because of the actor’s age. While he was once considered one of the top action stars of his generation, he’s been largely out of the public eye until very recently. After appearing in Expendables 3 , Wesley has managed to resurrect his career a bit. Snipes has even landed himself his own series in the form of Endgame . He did talk a bit about that show during his appearance at the San Diego Comic Con, but more than one question was aimed at whether or not Blade is coming back. Despite tamping down enthusiasm a bit, it seems pretty clear that Wesley Snipes would definitely be down for bringing back the character.
