Does Wendy look a little different? Wendy’s has updated its logo for the first time since 1983.
CEO Emil Brolick said that the company wanted to update the logo but knew that it couldn’t change its logo too drastically. The company ended up giving Wendy slight variations to make her look less childlike, got rid of the yellow background, and made the font more casual.
The Associated Press reports that this is only the fifth logo change since Dave Thomas opened the restaurant in 1969. The new logo will appear outside of new and renovated stores starting in March.
The logo change comes as Wendy’s tries to regain footing from “high-end” fast food restaurants like Panera and Chipotle. In addition to its logo change, Wendy’s has also redesigned the interior of its restaurants. Several of the fast food restaurants now feature flat screen TVs, cushy seating, and natural lighting. Employee uniforms are also getting an update.
Wendy’s, like McDonald’s and Taco Bell , is also starting to make changes to its menu. The company recently released a sweet baked potato and a Bacon Portabella Melt cheeseburger. The restaurant also plans to start using whole wheat buns and flatbreads.
Brolick said: “Our goal is to be a five-star restaurant at a three-star price.”
Here’s a look at the new Wendy’s logo?
What do you think? Will the new logo convince customers that Wendy’s is on par with restaurants like Panera?
