Musical comedian Weird Al Yankovic has created a number of pop-spoofs over the years, but now he has his sights aimed on the most controversial artist in the world , Lady Gaga.
In “Perform This Way,” which parodies the Gaga hit, “Born This Way,” Yankovic superimposes his head on the body of a much younger woman, dons a meat dress and porcupine hat, and even makes light of Gaga’s alleged and often-denied copying of Madonna by featuring a Madge clone singing ‘Express Yourself.’
According to spinner, there was quite a bit of controversy surrounding the release of ‘Perform This Way.’ When Yankovic originally sent the lyrics off to camp Gaga they disapproved them , or at least it seemed that way.
The truth, which later surfaced, was that Gaga’s manager took it upon himself to decide the fate of the song, and never actually sent it to ‘Mother Monster’ for her opinion.
When Gaga finally did see it, she apparently loved it, declaring that having a song parodied by Weird Al is a “rite of passage” for pop stars.
Yankovic’s newest record, ‘Alpocalypse,’ is slated to hit record stores on June 21 via Jive.
