It is possible to watch a WWE Extreme Rules free live stream online or are we stuck signing up for the WWE Network? Yes, there will be some free stuff. For those of you who are stuck at work we also suggest checking out our Extreme Rules live results article page for match end updates, which will be posted this afternoon.
In a related report by The Inquisitr , it’s hoped that CM Punk’s WWE return might occur at the Extreme Rules PPV but in general the going belief is that if Philip Brooks returns it will be with his future wife AJ Lee in June. Assuming the leaked Monday Night RAW script listing CM Punk as “injured” is true, this means the WWE Payback 2014 PPV is the most likely venue for Phil’s return since it also happens to be in in his hometown. This paints quite the pretty picture: CM Punk gets his payback in Chicago! But another type of return we’re hoping for is that John Cena might return to his old heel self .
The WWE Network free trial week had some fans conspiring on how they might use to watch WWE Extreme Rules free only to cancel the free membership. After all, the regular membership locked WWE fans into a 6-month commitment to pay $9.99 per month, which means it would actually be cheaper to buy the PPV event if all you cared for was seeing Extreme Rules. So the idea I heard being discussed was to wait on using the free trial until this week.
But Vince McMahon and Triple H are crafty little management devils. They carefully limited the WWE Network’s free trial so it expired before it could overlap with any major PPV events, including WrestleMania 30, WWE Extreme Rules, or the upcoming Payback. This mean that the WWE Network free trial will probably be advertised shortly after the WWE Extreme Rules live event is over.
Regardless, the WWE Network is actually a very good deal if you watch more than three PPV events in a year. The total price is a little under $120 for the year, but if you were to watch all 12 WWE PPV events in 2014 then the cost would be about $600. In addition, the WWE Network provides original programming, reality shows, documentaries, classic matches and more than 1,500 hours of old matches, even including classic PPV events.
Still, it’s not like the WWE are complete grinches. The WWE Extreme Rules pre-show is free on the WWE Network and will feature El Torito vs. Hornswoggle in a WeeLC match (that’s small ladders and chairs for those who don’t know the lingo). The Extreme Rules pre-show begins at 7:30 PM EST, 30 minutes before the main events start at 8:00 PM EST. The panel has been announced as Josh Mathews, Booker T, Alex Riley and Sheamus. There’s also talk of a one hour post-show that starts at 11 PM EST.
