Watch Dogs 2 wouldn’t take as long to make, according to Ubisoft creative director Jonathan Morin. This could be because the first game already built the main world, and the sequel would simply be building on what’s already there.
Don’t expect the sequel to come out too soon though, since the first game hasn’t even been released yet and Ubisoft delayed the first Watch Dogs release date in order to fine tune the game to their expectations. Seeing the level of detail they have put into each release of the Assassin’s Creed series, it’s obvious that Ubisoft doesn’t release rushed games.
It could be said that AC4 might have been a little rushed due to its lack of story, but it’s enjoyable enough as it is. Hours of gameplay are available from the start every time you begin, and with the water and weather physics as detailed as they are, Ubisoft obviously went out of their way to give us a complete game.
The same attention will likely be given to Watch Dogs 2 , creating a world that will allow you to look as closely as you want without losing the feeling of realism. However, the game doesn’t even exist yet as Morin explains:
“Right now there is no such thing as a Watch Dogs 2 . It’s certainly not going to be the same amount of time if we ever embark on such a journey. A big part of it was defining whatever Watch Dogs is. Once you have that starting point, then what becomes interesting is what players want more of – what comes next?
“Especially with the delay we have just been really concentrating on getting it launched. After that we’ll see where it goes – I think Ubisoft is showing more and more that they’re willing to take the time for it to be right.”
After Ubisoft releases the game, apparently they’re going to be paying attention to what the gamers want more of. If it’s more options in the skill trees , more vehicles, a wider variety of hacking options, or even more spider tanks or robot dinosaurs, they are going by what the gamers want. Right now, nobody outside those who played the demo knows what they might want from the sequel.

Jonathan Morin added about what could end up in the inevitable Watch Dogs sequel, “There’s stuff we discovered by making Watch Dogs that are interesting to pursue. But it’s up to players.”
It may be too early to tell yet, but based on what we know, what do you think Ubisoft should do in Watch Dogs 2 ?
