The LA Kings stole the home ice advantage when they split the two opening games in Chicago and they head into Los Angeles with momentum on their side. After falling behind 2-0 by the first couple minutes of the second period of game 2 of the Kings vs. Blackhawks series, Los Angeles turned on the heat and got Chicago goalie Corey Crawford’s number. The Kings lit the lamp six times while holding the Blackhawks scoreless. Five of those goals got by Crawford before Chicago pulled him.

Both starting goaltenders have proven that they can be stellar in this series. Both have also proven that they can be beaten. Quick has a longstanding reputation for being streaky. By contrast, Crawford is generally regarded as one of the coolest, most steady goalies in the league. The five goals he gave up in game 2 are the most he’s given up in a game all year long. In fact, according to a Yahoo! Sports report, the last time the Chicago Blackhawks gave up that many goals in a playoff game was way back in 2009, against the Detroit Red Wings, who fizzled early this year after making it to their 23rd straight NHL playoffs.

The Kings have the momentum, but they know better than to rest easy. They’ve been mediocre at home so far in the 2014 Stanley Cup playoffs, posting a 3-3 record in the Staples Center. LA captain Dustin Brown had this to say coming into tonight’s Blackhawks vs. Kings game 3:

“They’re the defending Stanley Cup champions, and we’re well aware of how good a team they are, but also how they’re able to battle adversity. If we had given up six unanswered goals, we know how we would want to respond to that.”

According to an AP report , Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville had this to say about his team’s impassion in the third period of game 2:

“The way it turned on a dime like that, I don’t know if we’ve seen a game like that all year where we’re doing everything all right and all of a sudden it was a disaster.”

Will the defending Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks pull it back together tonight on the road in game 3 or will the Los Angeles Kings carry the momentum into the Stanley Cup finals? Watch Blackhawks vs Kings game 3 streaming online live here tonight at 8 PM Eastern Time to find out.
