A new theory that Michael Jackson is alive and leading a secret life in Brazil gained traction after a video surfaced showing the aged pop star aboard a bus. The newly released Michael Jackson biopic titled Michael has reignited conversations about the iconic star. The movie has already become the third-highest-grossing biopic, trailing only juggernauts like Oppenheimer and Bohemian Rhapsody.

The movie chronicles Michael Jackson’s life and his rise to fame as the King of Pop. That said, the movie doesn’t show the entirety of his life, which had its controversial bits, too. MJ died at age 50 in Los Angeles, California. The official cause of his death was determined to be acute propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication, which led to his suffering a cardiac arrest.

Jackson’s personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2011 for providing him with the lethal drugs. However, this hasn’t stopped the internet from constructing a slew of conspiracy theories about him. Various internet sleuths have continued to theorize that Jackson did not die in 2009. They believe that he faked his death to lead a personal life and finally get rid of the pressure of fame.

Since then, a slew of Michael Jackson sightings have plagued the internet. Various users have claimed that they have seen the King of Pop leading a normal life around them. However, as of writing, no credible theory has been found. Following the recent release of Michael, a new video has gone viral, which leads many to believe that an old man who shares eerie resemblance to Jackson is seen aboard a bus, seemingly irritated that someone is recording him. His hair was white and his face showed visible wrinkles. Still, many users noted that his facial features looked strikingly similar to how they had before his death.

“The man never had a chance to live a normal life,” a user wrote under the video. “He got into show business as a child, it was all he ever knew, if it is him let him be, perhaps he’s found peace.” Another wrote: “Leave him alone.. he had a life he wants now or a life he needs.. not your place to expose him.”

Despite the striking similarities, various users reported that the video was AI-generated. “This video is either AI-generated or the person appearing in it is just a lookalike of Michael Jackson,” a third person wrote.

“As far as Michael Jackson is concerned, he passed away on June 25, 2009. If you look closely, the person in the video also appears to have a lighter skin tone, whereas Michael Jackson was originally Black, as he belonged to an African-American background,” someone pointed out.

While various users argued that the video was real, the video’s actual origin can be traced to a user named @promptkillers on Instagram. The user is notorious for posting AI-generated videos and images on their account, some of which have been deemed “unethical” by various users.
