Vin Diesel said Paul Walker was like a brother, so when he first learned of the actor’s tragic death last week Vin hopped right onto a plane to visit Paul’s mother.
The Fast & Furious actor opened up to fans on Facebook this week, writing about how upon hearing about Paul Walker’s death he immediately sought out Paul’s mother to offer his support. But when he arrived, it turned out that he was the one who needed comfort.
“I thought they needed my strength, but realized when I got there and broke down before his family, that it was I who needed theirs,” Diesel wrote on Facebook Friday. “His mother hugged me and said I am so sorry… I said sorry? You’re the mother who lost a son?… She said yes, but you lost your other half…”
Paul Walker was killed in a car crash on November 30 while riding in a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT with a friend in California.
The death immediately struck Vin Diesel, Paul’s Fast & Furious co-star who grew to be a close friend .
“Pablo, I wish you could see the world right now…and the profound impact your full life has had on it, on us…on me…I will always love you Brian, as the brother you were…on and off screen,” Diesel wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday .
Vin Diesel is not the only one who has been affected by Paul Walker’s death. Fellow Fast & Furious actor Tyrese Gibson actually visited the crash site after Paul’s death, breaking down among the hundreds of bereaved fans who came to leave flowers and other items.
“I will keep your energy with me forever #AshesOfAnAngel fast family around the world we live you and we love you. Paul is the heartbeat of this franchise and we’re gonna see to it that his energy and presence lives on forever #myhearthurtssobad.”
Vin Diesel and Paul Walker were set to appear in Fast & Furious 7 , which was slated for a 2014 release but now is in limbo.
