Some might have trouble explaining to others why exactly they should be watching Game of Thrones , lacking the facility with words necessary to describe the political intrigue, the eroticism, and the fantastical elements that make Games one of the best shows on television right now. Series star Peter Dinklage, though, recently summed up the series pretty succinctly: sexy-sexy, stabby-stabby.
Talking with MTV , the Game of Thrones star got down to the nitty gritty of the series. Interviewer Josh Horowitz – who apparently was recently thawed out from five years of cryogenic sleep – admitted that he has not seen the hit HBO series.
Dinklage, who plays the clever but increasingly imperiled Tyrion Lannister, expressed understandable shock at Horowitz’s admission, but he recovered quickly and took up the challenge of bringing Horowitz up to speed on Game of Thrones in under a minute.
“Sexy-sexy-sexy, stabby-stabby-stabby, beautiful language,” the Games star said. Poets have won awards for less.
We must admit, though, he forgot one thing: Hodor .
Dinklage’s portrayal of Tyrion has made him a fan-favorite. To be fair, Tyrion is one of the best written characters in a series full to bursting with well-written characters. Much of the “beautiful language” that Dinklage talks about is actually delivered by Tyrion, as Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin has given the Lannister imp a silver tongue.
The actor has ridden his increased popularity to more roles, including a turn in this summer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. In the Game of Thrones world, though, Tyrion is in a spot of trouble. Accused of regicide, the diminutive Lannister is on trial for his life, and he’s now got an unexpected ally.
There are only three episodes left in this season of Games , and there’s no telling who will make it out of this season alive. It does, though, seem absolutely certain that the whole wide world of Westeros is in for considerable change. If previous episodes of Games are any indication, we’re likely to see more events that tie into this season’s theme: Valar morghulis, all men must die .
