Norman, OK – Two Oklahoma Sooners players were arrested early Sunday morning after a traffic stop in Norman, Oklahoma.
Authorities have confirmed that a pair of University of Oklahoma football players were arrested for possession of marijuana complaints.
Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Meghan McCormick revealed to CBS that officers had arrested defensive back Cortez Johnson and wide receiver Jalen Saunders at around 2 am Sunday.
McCormick added that she doesn’t know whether Saunders or Johnson has an attorney or when the pair are due to appear in court for an initial appearance. She also confirmed that the two players had been booked into the Cleveland County jail, and released between 4 am and 5 am Sunday.
The two Sooners were arrested after their No. 12 team beat TCU 24-17 on Saturday. Saunders himself made a significant contribution to the victory, catching seven passes for 108 yards and a touchdown in the win, which clinched a share of the Big 12 title.
Saunders was seemingly in the mood to party after the triumph. The wide receiver retweeted a message from team-mate Joseph Lamar Harris that read:
Party if y’all forgot at my crib 862 Beaumont sq 73071!!!!
CBS attempted to contact the college for a statement, but a university spokesperson did not immediately respond to a phone message or email.
