TotalBiscuit just got some great news on the cancer front.

The popular YouTube gaming commentator, whose real name is John Bain, announced to fans on Friday that his latest cancer scan came back clear. The British video game expert had been diagnosed last year with cancer.

It was in May that TotalBiscuit revealed to followers that he had “full blown cancer.” At the time, he implied that he could have caught the cancer sooner, but added that doctors believed it was very treatable .

The 30-year-old Bain also goes by the aliases The Cynical Brit and TotalHalibut. He has gained fame in gaming circles not only for his witty commentary, but also for his gamecasting of games, including StarCraft II and PlanetSide 2 .

Bain took a few twists and turns before becoming TotalBiscuit. He originally hosted a heavy metal music show in the early 2000s, then later took a job with a financial advisory company. Bain lost his job during the recession, and while he was looking for a job, he started to produce and upload videos featuring the beta release of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm , which became wildly popular.

Today, TotalBiscuit has become one of the most popular gaming commentators on YouTube, with more than one million subscribers and his own Reddit page that itself has more than 30,000 subscribers.

Bain has also taken a first-hand role in the gaming industry, announcing in 2012 that he would be sponsoring team-dignitas player BlinG .

“The StarCraft community has given a lot to me and in turn I’ve had the opportunity to give back with SHOUTcraft Invitational,” he said at the time. “Now it is time to take it one step further and directly support a UK talent that I believe has the potential to be one of the best foreigners in the world.”

Despite his cancer treatment, TotalBiscuit has continued with his work as a video game commentator and reviewer, posting several updates within hours of sharing the good news with fans on Friday.
