Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD Remix is a video game sequel I’d like to see.
The THPS video game series has seen its share of ups and downs, but the original games are still some of the most loved of them all. For me, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2X was the reason to buy the original Xbox in the early days. It included every level from the first two games as well as a few bonus levels for the truly ambitious.
After a while the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater formula started getting old, and Neversoft tried to change the game to keep up with the times. Unfortunately even a virtual skateboard controller wasn’t enough to convince us that the new ideas were worth our time and money. The Tony Hawk gamers craved the old-school levels again, but with better visuals.
When Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD hit the downloadable half-pipes, we were excited, even though the game only gave us a few levels. Thankfully we were only charged a fraction of a full game’s price for what we got.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD Remix could easily revamp what we loved and bring it to next-gen consoles. The idea here is to take all of the levels from Pro Skater ‘s first four games and connect them all in one massive sandbox the way Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland tried to do. There could be a menu screen that allows us to jump to a level or a skate shop, or even buy stats. There should also be a way to skate to each of these locations from the Airport level, which would serve not only as its own skate park, but also a central hub to all of the other levels via a set of easily accessible doors and an airplane loading screen.
As for moves, we should keep the THPS classics, adding the wall-plant, the revert, curb launch tricks, and two customizable specials.
With the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on the way, there is no reason this game wouldn’t be possible. I really want to see a return of the classics with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD Remix .
