U.S. Congressman Tom Marino is not backing down after his confrontation with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, during which she allegedly twice accused him of being an “insignificant person.”
Insisting on zero tolerance, Marino claimed that Pelosi not only dissed him, but by extension dissed the vast majority of middle-class Americans.
As The Inquisitr previously reported, Pelosi, a San Francisco Democrat, had something of a meltdown in the U.S. House of Representatives when she rushed across the floor to confront Marino while he was addressing the chamber on the $700 million supplemental border funding bill. The bill subsequently passed by a vote of 223 to 189, but by then the Democrat-controlled Senate had already left town.
Pelosi’s behavior prompted actor James Woods to wonder aloud on Twitter as to whether the current House minority leader was mentally ill.
Marino, a Republican, represents Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area, and is serving his second term in the U.S. House .
In an interview on FNC, Rep. Marino explained that during the House debate he called out the Democrats for doing virtually nothing substantive on the southern border issue when they had complete control of the federal government. Marino noted that a finger-pointing Pelosi violated parliamentary protocol by charging over to approach him instead of asking if he would yield the floor so she could respond on the record.
The lawmaker recalled, “She came up to me wagging her finger and saying that I was a liar, a liar, and I simply said, ‘No, I do my research — I have my facts straight, perhaps you should try that.’”
Marino added that he wasn’t the least bit intimidated by the encounter: “[Pelosi] was visibly shaken… I’m a former prosecutor… and I’ve been threatened by drug dealers and organized crime, and murderers, and this was a walk in the park. I’m not going to put up with this. I don’t talk to people like this … I was a gentlemen during this whole incident.”

Alluding to the notion that Nancy Pelosi, one of the richest politicians on Capitol Hill, came across like an elitist, Marino added that:
“There are some people in Congress that think they are royalty, and I’m having one of the wealthiest people in Congress say I’m inconsequential, and I’m not important … that comment was made not only to me, but it was made to my constituents and the middle-class, hardworking people across the United States … I’m not afraid to speak up; I’m a street fighter … I’m going to stand up and fight for my constituents…”
Pelosi’s behavior is a prime example of the need for term limits, Marino concluded.
Many would consider Pelosi the epitome of the out-of-touch “limousine liberal,” which in the U.K. is known as a “champagne socialist.”
Nancy Pelosi’s office has offered no further comment on the dust-up with Rep. Tom Marino.
