Tim Burton is celebrating his 57th birthday today (August 25), and fans all over the world are celebrating with the Master of the Macabre.
Burton’s career in filmmaking started in the 1980s, and he still continues to churn out spectacular movies that viewers of all ages enjoy. Not known by many, Tim Burton used to work for the animation department of Walt Disney Productions and was a concept artist and animator for films such as Tron , The Black Cauldron , and The Fox and the Hound . However, his stylistic visions didn’t mesh with the cutesy animation of Disney, so he decided to work on his own projects. One of the first projects he worked on was a short animated film entitled Vincent , with horror film actor Vincent Price lending his voice.
As Biography states, Tim Burton was a fan of horror flicks since he was a young boy, which is where he most likely got the macabre feel of his films. He got his big break when Paul Reubens picked him to direct 1985’s Pee-wee’s Big Adventure , and from then on, his career skyrocketed.
Tim Burton is widely known for directing cult classics and blockbusters such as Batman , Batman Returns , Beetlejuice , and Mars Attacks . He has also delivered some dreamy, cinematic scenes in movies such as Big Fish and Big Eyes . However, what sets Tim Burton apart from other directors is his work on animated films including The Nightmare Before Christmas (as producer), Corpse Bride , and James and the Giant Peach .
Aside from being a director and producer, Tim Burton also spends his time creating works of art. As Deutsche Welle reports, Tim Burton recently exhibited his works in Brühl , Germany, where he showed his interesting pieces and unique drawings in the exhibition entitled “The World of Tim Burton.” The museum director described his work as “a journey into the head of the morbid-fantastical eccentric.” The director is, too, quite a poet, and he released a book of poems in 1997 entitled The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy & Other Stories .
Tim Burton is also busy with some of his upcoming movies and one of them is Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children , which was adapted from a book by Ransom Riggs with the same title. MTV News reported on the first few images from the set of the film.

In addition, Tim Burton is is also working on Alice Through the Looking Glass , which is a follow-up film to his 2010 Alice in Wonderland movie. Although Tim Burton will not be directing the film, he is still heavily involved in the process as a producer.

And last, but definitely not the least, he will be working once again with Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder on Beetlejuice 2 , which fans have been waiting for since after the first film came out in 1988.
It looks like Tim Burton is celebrating his birthday by being busy.
