If you’re hoping that the folks at Marvel are hard at work on Thor 3 , then you might want to dial back your excitement. Kevin Feige says the third flick isn’t in development just yet.

While promoting Thor: The Dark World , someone asked Feige about the status of the franchise. More specifically, fans want to know when everyone should expect to see Loki (Tom Hiddleston) on the big screen again. Judging from his comments, the studio is waiting to see how the sequel does before committing to another movie.

“Yeah, I don’t think it would be before ‘Thor 3’ if there is a ‘Thor 3’ and while we certainly have ideas of where we would like that to go, there are no specifics. We have to see how this one does and then go from there,” Kevin Feige told Slashfilm .

According to Worst Previews , fans recently started an online petition to get Loki his very own motion picture. However, the folks at Marvel haven’t mentioned anything about that project as of this writing.

The petition reads :

“We feel Loki, due to the astounding following both the character and actor have earned as a result of the Marvel films, more than warrants further exploration of his story. We believe such an endeavor would not only be profitable and successful but provide a larger view for general audiences of the incredibly complex and diverse personality a well-known villain of the Marvel universe is gifted with. To explore this darker side of the Thor storyline would be to give credit to a compelling individual, his remarkable portrayer and an appreciative audience that feels a fierce loyalty to both in an unprecedented way.”

At the moment, the Loki petition has over 28,000 signatures. However, it’s unknown if this campaign will persuade Marvel Studios to move forward with a solo flick.

Slashfilm also asked Kevin Feige about rumors that Doctor Strange and Blank Panther movies are presently in development at the studio. Not surprisingly, Feige didn’t offer up any concrete details about the upcoming projects.

“I think it’s important, in an ideal world, that we have an additional story on a pre-existing character and then introduce a new character. So next year is The Winter Solider, Guardians…Year after that, Age of Ultron, Ant-Man. That’s a nice rhythm,” Feige said.

He added, “So we have additional stories of the existing characters in development and the new ones, all of which you’ve heard before.”

Do you think Marvel will put together another Thor movie down the road?
