The why of Tom Canle’s firing

It seems every time I get to write about the Oakland Raiders a little more insanity creeps out. Tom Cable apparently had the audacity to file a grievance with the league over a pretty harsh fine that Al Davis was applying to his weekly paycheck. There is no word yet on what the fine was for, but sometime ago Davis started withholding 20k per paycheck. Apparently Cable was fined a total of 120k and after filing the grievance Davis fired him.

Cable is not a nice guy, not a popular guy, but after last off season when the Raiders decided to stick with him it seemed these issues would be put to rest. Then the team goes out and goes 8-8 with a 6-0 in division record and Al Davis decides this is the time to fire him. Al Davis is ruining this team, how many coaches have the Raiders hired this decade? Does Al still think Jamarcus Russell will be a good NFL QB?

I think in Davis’ mind he has to do things like this to keep people talking about his team. In a lot of ways he is the Vince McMahon of the NFL. Controversy sells, and he sees himself guarding the Raider image, or mystique. However, I think there is a real possibility that Davis has gone right out of his damn mind.
