The Walking Dead is coming back for a chaotic second half of its Season 6, and spoilers indicate that fans may once again have to say goodbye to Glenn Rhee.
[Warning: The Walking Dead spoilers ahead]
There promises to be plenty of drama as the second half of Season 6 starts again after the introduction of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). The show’s producers and even actors have been working to build up suspense, with Morgan calling him a “game changer.”
“The real deal. He’s a game changer and it’s a complete 180 from what I’m doing on The Good Wife , which as an actor it’s a dream come true. I get to be the biggest ass in the world. It’s awesome,” Morgan said (via E! News ).

The show’s producers have dropped some heavy hints that the second half of Season 6 will bring the deaths of some major character, and though they aren’t saying anything definitively, the spoilers point to Glenn Rhee as one who won’t survive the season.

Vanity Fair noted the following.
“Or, it could be that there are no left turns at all and it really will be Glenn who bites it in the finale, courtesy of Negan’s lethal baseball bat. At least if he’s finally gone for good, poor Steven Yeun will be able to stop tiptoeing around Glenn’s fate. Of the Glenn mystery from the first half of the season, Reedus says, ‘Steven went into hiding and I had to sneak him around. He was in the back of my car lying on the floor with a coat over him. Those were some interesting couple of weeks, for sure.’ “
Show-runner Scott Gimple also addressed the potential Walking Dead spoilers circulating among fans (especially those who follow the comic) that Negan’s arrival means Glenn will end up being killed.
“It’d be disingenuous of me to say, from a viewer’s point of view, that I wouldn’t be afraid,” he told TVLine . “But what am I holding out hope for? That it isn’t going to be like that? And, man, if it isn’t going to be like that, then what is going to happen? I doubt it’s going to involve flowers. The fact that he’s coming is not going to mean great stuff for Rick’s group.”
But it may also not be Negan and his lieutenants who pose the biggest threat. Gimple said that “some of the scariest people in the back half of the season are our people,” warning that trouble will likely be coming from within Rick’s group.
But The Walking Dead spoilers warning of potential deaths for Glenn and Darryl Dixon may not be coming immediately. Scott Gimple said that viewers won’t see the full “bone-chilling” arrival of Negan until the season’s April 3 finale.
Vanity Fair noted that The Walking Dead trailer contained some spoilers about the midseason premiere, showing Rick, Carl, Jessie, and her sons, Sam and Ron, smearing guts all over themselves to escape through a hoard of walkers.
In the comic, Jessie’s son breaks down and screams halfway through their escape, leading to a heartbreaking decision for Carl.
The report noted the following.
“Jessie won’t leave him even as he goes down but also refuses to let go of Carl’s hand. The Episode 9 teaser makes sure you remember that she has a firm grasp on Carl.
“In the comics, rather than watch his son get dragged into a zombie frenzy, Rick hacks off Jessie’s hand, effectively killing his girlfriend (who may or may not already be bitten at this point) to save his son. Ah, love in the time of zombies.
“There’s also a lot of speculation that Jessie’s other son, Ron, will wind up shooting Carl in the eye during the fracas. It’s a different character in the comic book that gives Carl that disfiguring wound, but in the show it’s Ron who has been (literally) gunning for Carl. Rick’s going to feel pretty dumb about teaching that kid to shoot, now.”
Fans who want to find out if the Walking Dead spoilers pointing to the death of Glenn Rhee are true won’t have to wait much longer to see it all set into motion. The Season 6 mid-season premiere airs on February 14.
