Season 5 of the hit AMC show The Walking Dead just wrapped less than three weeks ago, but already series creator and executive producer Robert Kirkman is laying the groundwork for some major Season 6 spoilers.
[Warning: Spoilers Ahead]
According to the Wrap , Kirkman addressed all things Walking Dead , including the possibility of the death of another major character . As readers of the comic book know, fan-favorite Glenn has already exited the Walking Dead comic book universe in brutal fashion. Robert suggested, when he spoke at the NAB Show Collaborative Global Series, that actor Stephen Yeun’s character on the show could soon share a similar fate.
“We don’t kill the popular characters,” Kirkman joked alongside Yuen and AMC President Charlie Collier, seemingly indicating what many fans suspect will be the next big death. In the graphic novel, Glenn is brutally beaten by a new character called Negin, who has not yet been introduced on the TV series.
Stephen, almost acknowledging his time is short if things play out as they did in the Walking Dead comic book, said he felt lucky to be a part of the show before contemplating the manner in which Glenn may go.
“The way that we make the show — the writers and everybody really want to focus on making things poignant and purposeful and meaningful. So if it were for Glenn to go, then it’s probably going to be awesome.”
Meanwhile, Kirkman confirmed what was previously reported by Inquisitr , that Season 6 of The Walking Dead is going to primarily focus on the relationship between Rick and Morgan.
“Having Rick and Morgan together, finally, again is a huge deal, and it’s definitely going to be a big part of Season 6,” Kirkman said.
Morgan’s season long trek to reunite with Rick ended during the Walking Dead Season 5 finale. However, the culmination of events was not the prettiest. Morgan is brought by Daryl and Aron to Alexandria, where Rick was on the cusp of executing one of its members. Making matters worse was the setup all episode long of how Morgan now values human life and Rick values only those that will keep his group alive.
“It’s a very different Rick and a very different Morgan who are going to have a completely different relationship,” Robert said. “And it’s the questions of how they’re going to interact, how they’re going to work together — if they’re going to work together — and what comes from those interactions is going to be basically the spine of Season 6.”
The Walking Dead returns to AMC in October.
